So hoping this set-up will do the trick. Kind of catch 22 – don’t want to have to test it either. I had asked if the hook/chain set-up could be switched. Meaning the hooks at the Red Coupler. The answer is yes, easy. I had a B & W Turn down ball set-up and the Ubolts in the bed of the truck would make it difficult each time to reach. So I reversed the set-up and hook at the Coupler. This is a 15 minute add on. A little expensive for what it is.

Goos, strong chains and hooks. Gives me a little peace of mind when towing my 15K fifth wheel. Attaching the chains to the hitch rings and using the quick hooks on the tt makes hookup a snap. Excellent complement for my Anderson 3220 hitch.

Although I know these are not required in most states,I went ahead and purchased them. Better to have them and not need them than to need them and not have them. They are well made and would have received 5 stars were it not for two complaints. 1. The shackles are from China. Where I used to work we were not allowed to use Chinese shackles due to many documented failures. We literally destroyed hundreds of Chinese shackles so no one else could use them. Shame on Andersen, an American company touting “Made in the USA” and using cheap Chinese shackles in their safety hardware. 2. The shackles are 3/8″. The have a WLL (Working Load Limit) of 1 ton with a 6 to 1 safety factor. So that is 12,000 LBS under best case scenario. If ever needed, it will be a shock load which is far from best case scenario. Why advertise a 24000 LB chain strength and not mention the weak link is the shackle. I hope their Andersen Ultimate hitch is engineered better than this.Edit: I am changing to 4 stars because I ordered the Andersen 3248 – Ultimate Connection Safety Chain Plate and it came with 2 ea. 1/2″ quick links that are rated to 3300 lb WLL and 10,000 break strength. Far better than the 3/8 shackles. As far as I was concerned, the shackles were just for looks and so you will not get a ticket in states that require safety chains, but why have safety chains if there are sure to fail if you ever need them?

The jury is still out if chains are required with the Andersen Ultimate hitch. I have no desire to argue with a state patrolman over his interpretation of the law. This is a cheap resolution of the issue and an extra measure of safety.I would prefer to see a more positive locking shackle at the king pin end of the chain.

the description says it comes with the plate that goes around the ball, but the pictures don’t show the plate. I took a chance on the fact that maybe it’s the picture that was wrong not the actual description. Well, the picture is correct and the description is wrong. now I have to spend more money getting the rest of the parts.

Very easy to install. I think it should come with the ultimate hitch since most states require safety chains when towing with a gooseneck hitch. In any event I feel more secure knowing they are connected.

I bought this safety chains kit to compliment the purchase of an Andersen Ultimate 5th Wheel Hitch 2, just so I’d have these in use in case I encountered any law enforcement officer who might incorrectly think the Andersen hitch is a gooseneck adapter instead of a true 5th wheel hitch. They also provide some piece of mind, in the highly unlikely event our 5th wheel RV would EVER become disconnected from the hitch. The chains and all other hardware are definitely high quality and fit exactly as needed. They’re cheap insurance for improbable disconnects and in case law enforcement ever stops someone who’s using an Andersen hitch with their 5th wheel RV.

Easy install. Works as advertised even though I do not believe that chains for the AUH system should be required by law. Disconnecting from the AUH while in tow is just as difficult as it is with the king puck system and chains are not required for that. The added benefit is that other people think the chains and AUH system is some sort of anti theft device for the 5th wheel.

The Andersen installation manual for these safety chains is marked “100% USA made”. This is NOT correct as the shackles and threaded eyelet are marked “CHINA” as shown in the picture. The end of the bolts are marked with NDF and this manufacturer is “Zhejiang New Oriental Fastener Co., Ltd”; another Chinese product. Unable to determine where the safety chain and hook were made but based on other components, guessing they are also made in China.Bought this as a safety backup and when pulling a 10,000 pound trailer would feel more confident with American made product vice a Chinese!

We have a lot of rolling hills, sharp turns so yes, I added the chain set-up for my Anderson goose neck. Some states require chains, some do not but I’d rather have it chained to my truck than lose my trailer. Oh what a mess of expenses that would be. Safe travels!

Andersen makes great products and these chains are no exception. Strong and well made. They kept my 5th wheel from crashing when my 5th wheel hitch was not hitched and the trailer came off the hitch itself. These chains held it and allowed me to stop safely. What more can one ask, except for an RV dealer that knows how to hook a hitch up correctly. These chains saved us and our 5th wheel.

This kit is convenient, but overpriced.These appear to be designed to tick a box for those states that require safety chains for such hitches, a questionable requirement in the first place. The weight ratings on the various pieces don’t add up to something that will withstand enough force to retain a fifth wheel travel of any significant size.If you need to tick a box, this kit will work, but at a premium. It is possible to spend less money and source stronger parts separately, but it can add up. I only purchased this kit due to a time constraint, otherwise would have procured better parts at more reasonable prices.Shop around carefully if you have the time to get better for cheaper.

Whomever drilled and tapped the the eye nuts did so at an angle. One is cocked. Just an unsightly error in the quality of the machining. Not as pleas as I could have been. Other than this flaw, all is well with the rest of the components.

Although not advertised as being Made in the USA I made the giant leap assuming since, the Andersen company advertises heavily that their hitches are “Made in USA”, that their “Safety Chains” would follow suit. Unfortunately, the hardware is clearly marked made in china. The actual bolts are not stamped “China” but a little research shows that they are made in China. Not sure about the chains but I suspect they’re also Chinese.My entire engineering career there were significant issues with Chinese made fasteners. Now that I’m retired, not sure how wise it is to allow in my personal life for “Safety” purposes just because they’re inexpensive.

ok some states requuire safety chains and we are about to head on a trip. So on the safe side I bought and installed these. Install was easy, took 20 minutes. I know that others complained about knuckle quality etc and let me be upfront I know nothing about how to identify iron grade. Here is what I do know. This is a set that is rated for 24000 lbs so I hope that all components are properly rated. Just by appearance they look of heavy quality. Lastly, I hope these safety chains never ever get used.
