No damage to the hitch my bed my camper or any where. So light weight my 7 year old places it in the bed when I went to install it. Amazing product! I don’t have time to review many of Amazon purchases, but this is one of the best products I’ve purchased in a while. If you have a 5th wheel, you want one of these hitches. It is lightweight, easy to install and remove for each trip, easier to couple than with a traditional hitch, and tows better. Priced similarly to a traditional hitch, there is just no reason to purchase anything else.

UPDATE: Another 10,000+ miles on the Andersen Ultimate. Absolutely no problems. Working like a dream. Just finished a 5k trip around the SW and saw a few Andersens in the RV parks. Everyone I spoke to loves the hitch – I’ve never heard a complaint. The funnel is a must (IMO) and makes hooking up so easy.I don’t understand why anyone would buy a 130 pound, awkward, difficult to install hitch when they could buy this 30+ pound hitch that you can load and unload one handed! Easy to install! I pick it off the wall, secure it to the truck, and when we’re done, hang it back on the wall. We’ve towed our fifth wheel last two summers and probably have over 10,000 miles on it. Secure. Solid. No bucking. No chucking. No Clunking. no sweat!My uncle saw how easy it was for us and sold his heavy steel hitch and bought an Andersen Ultimate the next week. Same thing happened with some friends of ours and they both love the hitch.Lets talk about customer service. Ordered the funnel for the coupler and the eye-bolts for the safety chains were not long enough. Contacted Andersen, no problem – two longer eye-bolts are in the mail! Spoke to Archiei in customer service about a concern I had with the base, no problem. they are going to take care of it, no questions asked! Rare to see that kind of service these days. I will always recommend Andersen products to anyone who asks.If you’re looking to buy a fifth wheel hitch, look no more. Buy a hitch that you can install and remove easily. A hitch that is smooth, solid and safe. Buy the Andersen Ultimate! (No, I don’t work for Andersen or know anyone who does!)

This hitch is so easy to use it’s laughable. I am 64 with a bad back and this is a breeze to remove or install in the bed. Since our 5th wheel has a remote for the landing gear, I can line it up, and raise or lower it from inside the truck as it is easy to see the ball. Once lowered, just push the cable in and turn the handle to lock it. I got lucky and was able to install the cable where the light switch for the LED lights on my trailer is mounted. The holes lined up perfectly. I do get some “clicking” when backing up and turning. Not sure what that is, but sure it is nothing serious. I have the latest adapter (see pics) with the composite cover. I’m still on the fence about getting the Andersen safety chains for it. From what I can tell it’s a gray area in some states whether it is needed or not.

New Fifth Wheel (Jayco 336 FBOK) on a 2017 Ram 2500. I had Camping world install the goose neck and torque the hitch down. So far I have enjoyed the Anderson hitch but I never used a traditional king pin hookup so I don’t have any thing to compare. I will tell you this – if you have someone service your camper take the coupler off. They will end up lifting the 5th wheel with a king pin attachment on their fork lift and it will break the plastic or worse damage the aluminum coupler itself.

Wanted a revolving kingpin hitch for new Montana 5th wheel and short bed 3500 truck but they were out of stock. Decided to try this hitch. It’s great and much less expensive. I am amazed at how well it works and turning radius is fine. I have bed rails and can take it out in a minute with one hand.

I did a lot of research before buying the Andersen Hitch. This is a badass hitch. I have a 2017 Ram 3500 crew cab with a short box. This hitch works with out any flaws. I have more than enough turning radius with this set up. I did not want the slider fifth wheel hitches that short box trucks need to pull a fifth wheel. Plus when I pull this out, which takes 2 minutes, there are no rails left in the truck. This only weighs in at 35lbs which means anyone can put it in and take it out. One thing about the ball. I found out it is directional. When the factory drilled the hole thru the hitch and the ball shaft it will only go in one way. If the pin doesn’t line up, simply turn the ball 180 degrees and the pin will go right in. Highly recommend this to anyone who doesn’t want a heavy cumbersome fifth wheel hitch that is ridiculously priced.

I’ve spent many months researching hitches before pulling the trigger on the Andersen. In the end I went this route for several reasons; it is light (35lbs!), takes only minutes to install/remove from the bed of the truck, allows you to use your full bed when removed, isn’t clunky and has less moving parts. I paired this with the B&W gooseneck hitch and the setup has been great for us.Hooking up to a 5th wheel is a lot simpler then our old trailer. If I have to, I can easily hook it up by myself as I can see it all through my back window.

I purchased a new 5th wheel trailer (heavy 12,000 Lbs) and wanted to upgraded my hitch as well. As I’m getting older, handling a 150 pound hitch in and out of my truck bed was not only difficult, but it was just a matter of time before I injured myself. The Andersen hitch is lightweight, but sturdy, and very easy to handle. I’ve had heard a lot of good things about the Andersen Hitch and it has lived up to expectations. In fact, I’m more than pleased with the hitch for a number of additional reasons: 1) The ride quality is so much better than my previous hitch; no more chucking and banging – very smooth when starting out or stopping. 2) I have a standard bed truck (6.6′) bed and needed more turning radius clearance from the cab to the trailer cap when turning sharp. The offset of the Andersen hitch allows my to turn my truck almost 90 degrees without hitting – no slider hitch needed. 3) Very easy to get the trailer on and off the hitch. The only possible negative is when others may want to pull my trailer (dealer or when getting trailer serviced) the adapter covers the standard pin. However, I did notice my local dealer has a ball on their fork lift to move Andersen pin box and goose neck adapter trailers. Overall, I’m very pleased with this product!

This IS the ultimate hitch, super easy to install, I highly recommend. Want from a non slider Husky 26K hitch to this… amazing for sure, nice smooth tow, you wont be disappointed. I looked at these for 6 months trying to find a negative review from someone who actually owned one. Could not find one and I know why. Absolutely excited about this product. I gave up my traditional heavy fifth wheel mount, and love it. I was hesitant at first, after seeing some of the reviews on here. However, I personally know people who have this and any problem that they have had was met with a outstanding customer service and speedy replacements.Immediately on our first trip with this it was completely night and day from the traditional hitch. Zero chucking, zero bucking. I was hesitant on moving from the ease of hooking up with the traditional hitch but found this was just as easy. Absolutely love this thing. If you are on the fence use this as the push to get one!

So far it is great! I installed it in just 30 min. I installed the coupler on my Fifth wheel with the coupler toward the rear of the truck and it worked like a charm. I have a short bed and I can turn the camper almost 90 degrees.

This is amazing I was skeptical but the passenger side of my 5th wheel ended up on a big mound of dirt and this thing is 42 ft it’s a monster anyways we thought it was going to tip of yes it was that big of mound but this hitch didn’t let go and was unscathed. We pulled out of it truck got the damage but hitch was perfect and they are right it’s a super smooth pull the only jerking came from my transmission kicking up or down

Heads up Must read..I recently had an accident while towing my fifth wheel trailer, which was hooked onto my Andersen hitch. The accident occurred in Southern California. During the accident I was cut off and I rear ended the vehicle with the estimated speed of collision at 10mph. “yes that slow.”During the accident I felt a large push from behind believing somebody had rear-ended my trailer. I was wrong, come to find out my newly purchased, only two month old, Andersen hitch had came completely off the gooseneck ball, which was attached to a newly mounted B&W system, which did not fail.This action caused the Andersen hitch to move all the way to the front portion of my bed, which caused my rear window to shatter Spraying glass all over myself my wife and the interior of my truck. “ Thank God my kids weren’t in the car.It was also found that the Andersen ball mounted on the hitch had Sheared in half as well. As a result of this I was barely able to get my truck to drag the trailer off the side of freeway before I had to call for a tow. I also found that the rear end of my truck had received moderate damage as a result of the hitches failure.I know hitches can only withstand so much impact, but a 10 mph direct rear accident shouldn’t have caused this type of failure. Specially when the airbags on my vehicle didn’t even deploy.This hitch failure has truly raddled me because if it would’ve been a severe accident I could only imagine where the hitch and trailer could’ve ended up.Also to add more fear I contacted Anderson hitches and requested their assistance in the investigation into the hitch failure. But of course they responded that they would be taking no action and would give no assistance.Great way to back your product Andersen as the strongest hitch ever!!!DO NOT BUY!!!!!

Installed on a Ram 2500 Crew Cab, towing a 41 foot Cardinal 5th wheel. I have only towed once so far and am planning a trip this weekend. Initial impression is this hitch is all it is advertised to be. I spent maybe twenty minutes getting the receiver attached to the king pin on the trailer. That included a careful review of the instructions and some serious cleaning of the king pin itself. The most difficult part of the installation was drilling the self-tapping screws for the hitch release. As for the truck bed mounted portion of the hitch, absolutely sweet. It can be installed/removed in just a couple of minutes. The assembly is easy to handle and drops right in the existing bed mount in my Ram 2500. I did find I had to raise the front of the trailer quite a bit higher to land on the receiver ball. Wishing I had high speed landing gear on the trailer. Overall, impressed and very satisfied with the hitch. I would recommend to other 5th wheel haulers.

Andersen products are totally awesome, this is the first 5th wheel hitch, but I also own their Weight Distribution Hitch, and will never own another brand. Their support is great and Jason has been very helpful however there are many videos out there to show the correct way to install it. We bought this and towed our new 5th wheel from VA to NJ and I have to say it was very quite, and did not buck and chuck like some hitches do, will never go to an overweight 5th wheel hitch, this thing rocks.

I can’t say enough good things about this hitch. It is very sturdy and vastly improved the ride comfort over the gooseneck adaptor I had been using previously on my 5th wheel. I forget I am towing 15 K at times, it rides so well. At only 35 lbs, it is easy to install and remove by one person in less than 5 minutes. It works great on top of a bedliner, I cut 3 ft pieces of rebar and placed them in the grooves under the hitch to remove flexing. The lifetime warranty even covered the red plastic ball adaptor the RV shop broke. I recommend this Anderson hitch to everyone who doesn’t want to give up their truck bed when not towing.

Great product from a great company. Purchased mine through Amazon in July 2014, I’ve pulled my fifth wheel approximately 2000 miles since then. Just last weekend the cable where it connects tot he block broke somehow, it still worked but was difficult to engage. Not sure how it broke, most likely something hit it while I was hooking up. Sent an email to Andersen along with a photo, and they sent me a new one the very next day! Very impressive customer service!!Currently installed in a 2014 F-150 6.5′ bed, I use it in the recommended fashion, with the hitch forward in the bed, and the trailer block forward also. No clearance issues at all, can probably get pretty close to 90 degrees backing up.

First time pulling a 5th wheel, I did a lot of searching for infomation on this product and found a lot. After reading and looking at many utube videos I decided to get one. We have a 2018 3500 RAM short bed, crew cab and a 2019 Solitude S Class, 40ft 5th wheel. We pulled it about 165 miles and it handled great. I made some tight turns and had no problems, I didn’t go 90 degs but close, not sure of angle. It handled better than my 30 ft trailer .

Wow! This hitch is amazing. We bought a brand new truck and we previously had a sliding fifth wheel hitch we were going to install but it would not fit in the new truck bed. So glad we ran across this product. We had a professional install a goose neck hitch which was less holes to put in the new truck bed compared to the fifth wheel hitch. My husband installed this which was very easy. It is light wt that I can put it in and out too. The 38 ft Mobile Suite we have pulled beautifully. We have taken it twice up into the mountains on very winding roads and hair pin turns and had absolutely no issues at all. Hooking up to this hitch is so easy. We love it and will recommend it to others.

My first time using a fifth wheel type device to tow. The Anderson Ultimate hitch was so easy to install and secure. Plenty of instructions that were complete and easy to understand. The towing performance was smooth; no slop or looseness. A very tight and secure hitch of trailer and towing vehicle that felt very fluid and confident. BTW, the trailers’ weight is 11.5k lbs., biggest thing i ever towed, and that’s just under half of the Anderson Ultimate hitch maximum weight rating of 24k lbs. So thank you Anderson for making my towing experience secure and peaceable.

This review might be a little lengthy. I have a lot to say about this amazing hitch….We are selling our 2003 diesel F350 that has a traditional clanky 250-pound 5th Wheel hitch in it. We bought a 1997 F350 XLT with the 460 gas 7.5L engine to tow our rig. This ’97 had a top of the line Gooseneck hitch already installed. During the process of figuring out maybe switching over the old 5th Wheel hitch to this truck I came across the Anderson hitch products. The cost for the labor at a hitch place to remove/mount the old hitch was not too much lower than this Anderson hitch would be, so I investigated more.I called the company and they were helpful in answering questions. The more I looked into this Anderson hitch the more I began to want to give it a shot.Our story: full time RV’ers since mid-2016. We have a 40′ Open Range. I still work for a couple more years before we move to a saner state. In CA, there is a 14-day limit at most campgrounds. We didn’t mind really, as we bounced between 3 really nice County campgrounds and it worked out pretty well. But I will tell you, by FAR the biggest pain was connecting to the old 5th Wheel hitch. Such frustration and during the summer when it is 110F+ it just sucks!So I decided to give this hitch a chance, and I am so glad that I did. Hooking up takes just moments now. Doesn’t matter if rig and/or truck is uneven. No more getting the rig kingpin and the old hitch at perfect height to match up. Those days are OVER!Installation was super easy. Took maybe 5 minutes to install Amderson Hitch onto Gooseneck ball. Took maybe 10 minutes to install Kingpin adapter. Super straightforward. Hitch is super sturdy but ridiculously light.When hooking up, just back up truck to where Anderson hitch is pretty close to right under kingpin adapter. Lower rig down onto ball. Do locking pin. Done! So very very easy.I will never ever EVER go back to the traditional 5th Wheel hitches again. This product changed my life for the better. Totally reasonable price too….

In late 2020, we bought a Ram 2500 Hemi with a Std bed and a 31ft FW. The FW had a Turning Point pin box which I thought was a brilliant concept. However, going down the Fwy onto a ramp onto another Fwy, there was a large “dip” in the ramp. Doing 55 mph in the turn, the wedge, which was properly installed, jumped out of the slot behind the hitch jaws and landed on top of the hitch plate at about 20 degrees. This threw the FW out of alignment and caused it to fishtail wildly. Luckily, there was no one along side of us because we would have taken them out. That’s when I ordered the Andersen Hitch. I LOVE IT! Easy to install and hook up. No “chunking”. Very smooth and light weight. The old hitch was 200 lbs, so this saved about 150 (enough for a queen Tempur Pedic in the bedroom!) The truck doesn’t have to be in perfect alignment with the FW to hook up and easy to remove. We have the rail system so there was a little play up and down which I solved by taking 2 inch wide 1/8 inch thick neoprene pieces 6 inches long with the Andersen tab slots cut out between the hitch and the rails to cushion and prevent rubbing the paint off the rails. The 9 inch offset of this system also adds more clearance from the back window of the truck; nice!

Love my Andersen Hitch… several friends have installed one after seeing mine and they love their hitches as well! Great to be able to remove and have my truck bed back again without breaking my back to remove the hitch. After a ton of research and 10 years of 5th wheel hauling in short bed trucks with both manual sliders and fixed position hitches I can honestly say the Andersen hitch is the best solution for my truck and trailer. 2014 Ram 2500 turbo diesel double cab with 6.5’ bed pulling a 2019 Forest River Sandstorm 5th wheel toy hauler.I set up the bed hitch as directed with the ball closest to the tailgate the installed the pin adapter behind the pin. The offset created gave me just the clearance needed.It’s a solid ride and chucking has been reduced. It eliminated, I will be adding a Lippert Trailair pinbox and to achieve the best of both worlds.There is a significant safety benefit to this design, gone are the days of pushing your truck into the trailer to connect and pulling it out to disconnect. Those that have done this enough know the risk here in that you could drop the trailer onto the bed or worse.Now your lifting the trailer straight up then lowering it straight down on the new hitch, the risk has been greatly reduced. This always highlights the issue that your now raising and lowering your trailer with the landing more than ever, this increased use overtime could result in more maintenance and wear on your landing. To combat this issue I bought the Andersen level blocks which give me 8” of block and that much less landing gear travel.The Andersen Ultimate above bed rail mount hitch is a solid product for a great price.

I have used a Reese 18K hitch in my one ton pickup for nearly ten years. I pull a 16k pound, 40ft fifth wheel trailer. The Reese has been dependable and issue free other than routine maintenance/adjustments and lubrication. Ten years ago I had little issue with lifting this heavy hitch into my truck and then sliding it into the locking position over the four “pucks” mounted in the truck. Now that chore has become a problem to the point that my wife and I were close to selling the trailer. Last year a friend showed me his new fifth wheel and this funny looking hitch made from aluminum. The argument was that it was clearly much lighter than the Reese (100#) and easy to use. I researched and then elected to remove the existing frame hitch and install a new gooseneck retractable ball hitch, frame mounted. Once installed the Andersen hitch system is a snap to attach to the new gooseneck ball and coupler box on the trailer. Andersen makes the excellent argument that the hitch is light and easy to lift which is true. However, other benefits include the easy hookup and release and the quiet travel. The Reese can be a bit difficult to engage and release given the reach to access the safety pin after the jaw is engaged. I either used a ladder or jumped onto the side of the truck to reach. Now I just turn the cable handle and push in the pin while I stand by the trailer. On the road there is no squeaking or creaking from the hitch, just a smooth solid feel. Now I look forward to another 10 years.

Bought the rail version and installed on the rail without, um, a hitch! Coupler installed in minutes as well. Finding the Allen wrench was tricky. If u don’t have this tool and u order online make sure u search for “allen wrench socket”. Not just allen wrench. The instructions show to mount the pull cable under the front of the RV. This seemed very flimsy so we used the same self tapping screws and mounted the cable on top of the pin box. (Piece over top of the king pin) Yes this means you have to reach in your truck bed to push/pull the cable but it works just fine. On our test run we noticed a big difference in much less bucking and chucking and just flat surfaces. The ride overall was much smoother. Granted this was a short test drive but we def noticed an improvement. Hitching up was much quicker as well. Can’t see the ball in the hitch in my rear view mirror but looking back you’ll be able to. You’ll probably need to buy some sort of clip to secure your break away cable. Also the hitch is very light leaving some extra cargo carrying.

Easy to install and great customer support. Because I have a hard plastic bedliner (Duraliner) in my Ram truck the center column connection would not go down enough to slide in the connection pin. Emailed Andersen and they responded confirming the hitch can be used in a plastic bedliner and sent out a extended center connection section, no charge. Really great customer service and product. Best thing is I can store it in my garage over head and it’s out of the way.Box arrived in time and undamaged.

I have this on 2015 F250 SHORT BED towing a 2014 39′ fifth wheel camper. It works awesome! My exact reason for purchasing this was 1) to save the weight from a conventional and unnecessary fifth wheel hitch, and 2) to eliminate the need for a slider hitch on short bed which is also heavy AND expensive. The beauty of this thing is I can unbolt it and lift it out myself in minutes. Plus the height is easily adjustable with one pin so you play with you bed height clearance. Also, ZERO GREASE needed. I installed a B&W turnover gooseneck ball so when the hitch is removed you have a flat bed with nothing sticking up. I cut out my bed liner so the hitch sits flat on metal. I throw a bed rug in to cover the cut out and use a trifold bed cover so I can leave it on while towing. I’m all about less work and weight. I see no reason anyone would a conventional fifth wheel hitch – with the invention of this baby, that is old school and multi-level pain for all the reasons I listed above. You WILL BE happy, plus everyone checks it out at campgrounds and think wished they had done the same.

Have a 19 Ram 3500 mega cab limited dually. I saw this and wanted to replace my current fifth wheel to add more clearance for turning because my bed is so short. Early 2017 Purchase. Unit received has a hard delrin/urethane funnel adapter thats red in color. So it seems this is another update from the black steel funnel adapter like in the product photos. Packaging was nice and unit had not scratches or dings. Very little slop in the ball and kingpin adapter. Can’t wait to try to out next weekend.

This is a really cool product. Its light, sturdy, and very easy to use. One issue that mine has is that there is a sharp edge on the part that the ball goes into (the part on the 5th wheel king pin). One time, when raising the camper, the camper was pulling on the hitch, and when the two separated, the sharp edge ‘sliced’ off a sliver of the aluminum ball. My solution will be to take a die grinder and radius the edge of that cone shaped steel part.

Absolutely thrilled with this hitch…..and I’m using it on a short bed truck!!! Pulls smooth, absolutely quiet, and just about a 90 degree turn!! Just finished about 500 miles with it, and after checking tightness nothing loosened up. All the bolts were at specified torque for the trip back and did not require any tightening. Truck is a 16′ Ram 2500 Megacab, and trailer is a Jayco Eagle HT. Front cap is not overly scalloped and still get more then enough turning radius

I wish I knew about this hitch before I wasted my money on a SuperGlide hitch that froze up and bent the front of the hitch on my RV and stranded me on the side of the road. Everything about this hitch is great. No more loud noises where you wonder if your hitch broke and your 5th wheel is going to fall off. Way easier to hookup – Putting a trailer on a ball is way easier than yanking on levers and hoping everything is lined up enough to lock in. Anyone with a bumper pull trailer knows the trailer wants to fall on if they are close and you always know if they are on or not.(If you pull out your rear seat center headrest when you are backing up you can see it perfectly to hook up) This setup is much stronger and if that wasn’t enough this thing is so easy to remove. I am super strong but trying to lift a 250LB fifth wheel hitch(The superglide or even a smaller lighter Curt one I had) out of your truck is nightmare. It was so much work I didn’t take it out very often and that is why you see everyone with 5th wheel hitches leaving them in their trucks all the time. It’s like you lost your truck because you have this huge hitch in there all the time taking up all your space. This thing has 3 bolts and a pin and weighs nothing(35 lbs made out of Aluminum but has been tested to hold 50,000 lbs – The physics of it are a good design). A small woman could take it out. Takes me about a minute to take it out. It does require you to have a gooseneck hitch but that hitch setup is way stronger than those universal 5th wheel hitches that drill holes through the thin sheet metal bed for support. I installed my gooseneck hitch myself and everything is bolted securely to the frame not the thin sheet metal bed. I am so glad to have this setup now. I flip my gooseneck ball over and have my entire bed back. Go get this setup and you will be happy you did.

I bought this hitch about 2 years ago. I loved this hitch, until I didn’t. I have a 40 ft fifth wheel rv and the GVWR is just under 16,000 pounds. This hitch is said to be rated at 24,000 pounds. IT’S NOT. I was traveling on the interstate traffic was heavy so I was only doing about 40 mph when I had to come to a hard stop. When I did I heard a loud bang and a jolt thought someone had hit me. I pull off the road to find that the ANDERSON HITCH had FAILED.After this had happened I had my trailer weight and it came in at 13,202 with cargo. I reached out to Anderson, which took several phone calls. There reply to me was that the hitch could fail with sudden stops. They sent me a check for only 525.00 when i paid over 700.00I am so lucky that we were not hurt or any damage was done to my truck. I hope people read this review and understand that this product is not safe in my opinion. Remember there claim is 24,000 pounds and I was only 13,202 pounds just half the weight they claim this hitch can carry.RJM

Said they were used to dealing with a very heavy hitch called B & W. they watched the online video and saw the tensile strength test. Very impressive and economical. I also get the benefit of having a goose neck connection as well for a horse trailer as well as the Anderson Hitch that goes on top of the goose neck for my new RV 5th wheel. I’m very pleased!Ron

Picked up my Fifth wheel in WA and towed it straight to Alaska. Was putting it through the paces on rough roads gravel roads frost heaves all at 70 mph. No damage to the hitch my bed my camper or any where. So light weight my 7 year old places it in the bed when I went to install it. As I use my truck primarily for carrying stuff I didn’t want the conventional hitch that ways 130lbs.

This thing is amazing. We previously used a slider hitch, but when we got a new truck with a longer bed, we wanted a different option. This is SUPER light, and easy to put in and out of the truck. The best part is that you can take it out when you’re not using us, and you don’t lose all of the function of your truck bed. Bought this to eliviate my heavy 5th wheel hitch I can’t lift anymore! Installed it on my 04 Chevy 2500HD short bed. Per instructions for sb i installed it but had to rotate the coupler forward to help center over my axle? I now can make a full turn and never hit my cab! No more sliding my Husky hitch back! I now load my 40 lbs hitch in my front trailer storage area! WOW!

It should be noted that with the newly-included cone on the kingpin adapter you will need a 1/4″ hex bit that is longer than you may find in the local hardware store. Hex portion needs to be about 1.5 inches long to reach unless you want to go chipping away at plastic. Good luck hitting 40 ft-lbs with an Allen wrench!Nothing but good to say about the hitch itself. It is quiet, has few moving parts, and will connect without being level or completely centered. I can get 90 degrees with my 97 F350 long bed.

This Anderson hitch was highly recommended by several people and I can truly see why!Once the rails are mounted in your tow vehicle it literally takes second to install the hitch! 4 pins and clips. I have towed for 33 years, mostly bumper pull, but this hitch made the smoothest, most quiet tow I have ever had!The mount that goes in the camper does hang down lower, so you may need to adjust the hitch up on the camper, but that’s not too bad for the ease of use! The ball easily slides into the hitch at most any angle and removes easily.I have zero regrets on my purchase!

I would NOT recommend this hitch.I was involved in an accident last September 2020 where a minivan failed to remain stopped at a stop sign. I was traveling at about 40mph when I entered the intersection. I was operating my Chev 3500 while towing my Cyclone 3100 5th wheel. My 5th wheel was secured to my truck using the Andersen Ultimate 5th Wheel Hitch Gooseneck Mount. The hitch was purchased two years ago.The minivan driver pulled out and struck my truck in the front right wheel. The minivan rotated and the back of the minivan struck the right front on the 5th wheel. The 5th wheel broke free and fell ontop of the truck bed and then collided into the back of my truck.The hitch connection ball sheared off at the top of the base. The hitch base was bent and deformed. If I had been using a conventional 5th wheel pin hitch it would not have broke. The impact was not that great. Both the truck and the camper were removed by standard tow vehicles and could have been driven away, of course if the hitch was still intact. I engaged and lowered the front jacks on the camper to raise it off the truck. I then drove the truck out from under the camper so the tow could remove them.If the hitch did not fail there would not be any damage to the back of my truck or to the bed, but as such there was. The damage caused my 2013 truck in near perfect condition (stored winters) with only 38,000 miles to be classified by the insurance as totaled.I am so frustrated. And to compound the frustration the Andersen warranty was voided because it had been involved in an accident. See the pictures to see the details.It was fortunate that the accident was not worse for me and that the camper did not roll. The cost to repair the camper was just under $8000.I bought the Andersen Hitch because it’s was very light and easy to install and remove. All I can say is buy a conventional pin hitch.

The package came damaged and was missing the instructions. The seller gave me a link to view the instructions but they were not in a printable format. Where I was camping has no internet so printed instructions would have been better. There was no direct communication allowed between the seller and buyer, that’s an Amazon thing, all communication needed to go between Amazon. I called Anderson directly and left a message as I could not get through to an actual person. No one returned my call. Simple request, just wanted a printed set of directions. I have used the hitch 3 or 4 times now, it is easy to take in and out. It is a bit difficult to know when the pin is engaged or not , I double checked by raising the trailer and if it raised the truck bed It confirmed to me that the pin was engaged. I would purchase this again but would not buy it through Amazon due to communication problems between the buyer and seller. Buying it through a bricks and mortar dealer would be a better choice and I will limit my Amazon purchases to minor purchases in the future.

I’ve had the hitch for about 18 months now. Love the easy install & removal and the way it tows. It worked great with my short bed truck I had & works great with my new long bed dually. No chucking while towing. It’s easy to hitch the trailer. My only complaint is with the plastic ball funnel on the coupler block. The one time I was off-center as I lower the trailer onto the ball the funnel cracked. It still guided the coupler onto the ball. And the connection is still safe and solid, but the cracked plastic makes it look cheap. I don’t think I will ever switch to a conventional 5th wheel hitch.

This weighs less than 40# making it easy to install/remove for better used of the truck bed. The weight savings of this Andersen hitch is almost 250# payload compared to a standard hitch. Truck payload can become an issue, even for a 1 Ton single rear wheel truck (4400# payload), when pulling a heavy 5th wheel. I tow a 2016 12,500# Alpine 5th wheel with a pin weight of 2,700#s (with the 5.5Kw generator); I also added a 50 gallon auxiliary diesel tank to the truck bed, so I value the lighter Andersen Hitch. My tow vehicle is a 2017 RAM 3500 diesel 4×4; the Andersen hitch fit perfectly in the truck which came with the 5th wheel preparation package leaving plenty of room for the Transfer Flow Aux tank. I’ve seen comments regarding this hitch not handling heavier 5th wheel trailers and will add this: a friend has a 2017 RAM dually, diesel, and tows an 18,000# 5th wheel with a 3,800# pin weight. It is critical to install the Andersen hitch per instructions, taking out all possible movement when torquing the top bolt which compresses the hitch to the truck bed. Perhaps other installations could have allowed the hitch to be jolted by a sudden stop or acceleration resulting in hitch damage. I’m not trying to slam other evaluations but trying to understand reported hitch failure; a faulty weld could have resulted in the hitch failure. I did visually inspect all the welds on my hitch and they looked professional.

I was concerned that this wouldn’t be secure and that I would be worried the entire time I was moving my trailer. This is very sturdy and I intend to use it whenever I move my trailer. Its very neat to be able to move either a goose-neck or a kingpin trailer anytime that I want without having to weld something onto the trailer or to make ANY modifications to my flatbed Ford!!! Best hitch on the market. Just bought a new 5th Wheel and towed it home over 500 hundred miles using this hitch and it was the best towing experience I’ve had. It pulls smooth without any clunking and was easy to install myself (I installed it on top of a B&W Turn Over Ball). Its light weight and simple to remove when not in use, freeing up your truck bed for other purposes. I’ve pulled a number of different truck and trailer combinations over the years and I was surprise by how much better this one was.Of note, I mounted the pin release “T” handle to the trailer’s pin box using heavy duty magnets to avoid drilling any mounting holes in my new trailer.

This hitch is too incredibly strong to be this simple and light. I installed and torqued it all in minutes, then hooked it to a 10,000 camper in Northern California, and tugged it to Homer, Alaska over a very gnarly AlCan Hiway. It performed flawlessly and without a whimper. I’ve driven that route many times and it can be awful in sections..this latest August/2018 trip presented its own challenges, (Tok to Glenallen was as bad as 1959!), and this hitch amazed me..towed that twisting/bouncing/rocking/rolling/jerking camper like a Cadillac. Best towing accessory I’ve EVER purchased, hands down.

Just want to give a High5 to Andersen Hitches for great product and outstanding customer service and prompt attention to their customers. I purchased an Ultimate Hitch, for an F250 shortbed, realized ths sleeve for my hitch was too short. One call and they told me to take pictures and email them in. Got an email back asking for my address for where to send the correct sleeve length! DONE, no explainations why they cant do something, no telling me I can buy one….just here is the correct part! They will stand behind their products 100 % to insure an outstanding customer experience. So in turn I purchased a set of Jack Stands and leveling/Jack kit. I will spend my money with a company that builds a great product AND STANDS BY IT, customer service is a lost art these days, but not at Andersen Hitches!NOW about the Ultimate Hitch……Home run for design, ease of installation and removal! This hitch should be a no brainier for anyone towing a 5th wheel under 24k! What was that insurance commercial, “So easy a caveman can do it!” As far as Hooking up and hooking easy as can be! These are great! Why have 300lbs of dead weight in your truck bed? Why not have a less than 40lbs hitch (leave more than 250lbs of cargo weight) that is quiet clean, performs flawlessly! I did a lot of research on this hitch and talked with several dealers about it before buying it. I ordered the hitch and it actually arrived a day early, I had it installed within 15 minutes and two days later I went to pick up my 5th wheel. Only made one adjustment to the hitch to make the RV sit level and I was on my way. Normal speeds of 70 to 75 MPH were a dream and smoother than any other RV hitch I have ever owned, not to mention no groaning and clanking coming from the hitch. This is truly a great product.

My previous hitch was the Pro Series 15K with slider which was very noisy and had lots of play, both up and down and forward and aft. If we had the back window open, it would startle my wife and dog if we hit a bump unexpectedly. With the Andersen, you will experience none of that. The hitch is 100% silent and only moves with the truck as its locked onto the gooesneck. I also greatly appreciate the fact that it only weighs 40 lbs as opposed to 150 lbs for the Pro Series. If you want a quality hitch that’s easy to handle, this is it! And, this price is very reasonable!

This Anderson 5th wheel hitch is great. No more bouncing or chucking back and forth. The 5th wheel camper rides so smooth you hardly know it there. You can make tight turns easy and backing up is just as easy. I’d buy it again should I ever need too. I highly recommend this product.

Easy install. You need the 2″ allen wrench for 2 of the set screws. I did a field install and did not have the proper allen wrench. Luckily I had a drill bit to enlarge the red funnel so I could get my shorter allen wrench to the proper torque. I pulled a 9000 lb 5th wheel with my Ram 2500 4×4 with a standard bed. Set the height to 16″, no clearance issues. Pulled the trailer 500 miles from 2100′ above sea level, to sea level, back up to 41′ above sea level and down to sea level again. Smooth ride. Got a bit of sway in a strong wind, slow down.

Great product. Very quick and easy installation. We’re pulling a Jayco 325BHQS with a short bed 2016 Ram 2500. No clearance issues between the 5th wheel cap and rear of truck cab even at extreme turning angles. Towing experience is excellent even in crosswinds at highway speed.

I was concerned about buying this hitch after using my Reese hitch, but I have to say, so far so good. It was very easy to install, as I the hitch fit into the existing rails that was already installed in my Dodge 2500 short bed. I find it no harder to hook up than I did with the Reese. I have pulled 3 times with it (over 1000 miles in the mountains), with no issues. I would recommend this hitch.

This Andersen Ultimate Hitch is the perfect hitch for my 2021 Ford F-250 Tremor with a 6’ 3/4’ bed and 10,000 lb 5th wheel. It is amazingly light at only 35 lbs and is very easy to remove from the truck bed when not in use. This hitch is designed to give you optimal clearance for short-bed trucks. In California, we are required to use tow chains with this type of hitch and Andersen makes a nice set for this hitch. I would highly recommend the rubber mat that’s goes underneath this hitch too for added fitment. Tows great with no chucking and super smooth!

Great product from Andersen. Smooth towing, quality construction and design. Unfortunately, it did not work out for me because of long pinbox. If you have a shortbed, please be sure you measure your pin box length from king pin center to back edge *AND* add 4″ to that distance as the required radius to avoid hitting the side rails of your truck. Reversing the Andersen adapter/coupler block fixed the pinbox clearance, but then the trailer cap was 8″ closer to the cab resulting in potential collision at ~35 degrees. Reversing the pin box will certainly work with long beds and some short beds with shorter pin boxes, but not mine, unfortunately. Andersen was wonderful to help me try to solve this, Amazon took return – no problem.

If you’ve towed with a standard 5th wheel hitch and think your hitch is smooth, you need to tow with this! I was a bit skeptical, but I watched a few Andersen videos on youtube as well as some home reviews, and I figured worst case I could use it for the toy hauler. I have a Husky 5th wheel hitch I used to tow my 11,000lb ’03 Montana 3575RL 36′ 5th wheel. It’s a good hitch for the money, but honestly I was tired of the chucking in the hitch. A few times I’ve had some awkward angles between the trailer and the truck when parking, and can’t get the hitch to release the kingpin, and then when I do get it to release it’s hell getting the kingpin hitched back up. No more crap with this hitch. It’s as easy as it looks, and tows better than you’d think. No messy grease, the chucking is 99% gone, and I can release my 5th wheel and drop it back on from virtually any position, angle of the truck and trailer doesn’t matter. I absolutely love it! It weighs 36lbs, the girlfriend usually removes it from the bed for me and stows it in the storage compartment while I’m setting up the trailer for camp. Takes her all of maybe 3 minutes. I almost want to buy a 2nd one, just to keep it in the box in case they ever stop making these. Worth every penny.

Best hitch out there. I did not want a traditional 5th wheel kingpin hitch, they are large and heavy and not easy to get installed and out of truck after you set up your trailer. used a gooseneck adapter for a bit and that was awful and i have a short bed truck and didn’t have enough clearance for tight turns. This hitch is perfect. It is super light weight, installs in about 3 minutes by myself and you can get it out of your truck bed just as fast. it has an offset which was perfect and now i can do full 90 degree turns. Also very smooth while driving, no chucking or bouncing. I can’t praise this hitch enough.

Just purchased for a new 5th wheel RV. Watched several reviews on Youtube. Probably a bit harder to line up than the std. pin box type, but easy enough if you have a spotter or good camera. Main reason for purchase was ease of installation/removal to keep my pickup bed open when not pulling the trailer. Also it is so light, I can handle it by myself. Also requires no grease on the ball. After about 2.000 miles of use, I am happy with the hitch.

I did a LOT of research on 5th wheel hitches from MANY different makers, and after all that, my inclination to buy this for towing our 38-ft, 16K-lb 5th wheel RV turned out being a very good decision. The solid connection it makes between truck and trailer really does produce a smoother ride and towing experience, pretty much eliminating all “chucking” (back and forth movement and noise) that most other conventional 5th wheel hitches don’t or can’t take care of. I also appreciate the fact it only weighs about 35-lbs and is so quick and easy to setup for use as well as remove when not needed. This hitch, combined with the air ride hitch and air ride suspension on our RV made the 4-day, 2100+ mile journey from FL back to our home a MUCH less stressful experience than it could have been. We encountered strong winds in FL and again all across TX and REALLY rough roads in MS and OK, and had it not been for having chosen this hitch I firmly believe I would have been a lot more worn out by the end of our trip home, were it not for the Andersen hitch and the RV’s compliment of equipment.One other thing I want to mention and that is the excellent customer service Andersen provides. When I first received the hitch, which comes with their proprietary kingpin coupler (that attaches to the trailer hitch) and their new, red vinyl-like ball funnel that’s designed to guide a slightly misaligned truck and trailer hitch to mate up, it had a problem. One of the side plates that holds the ball funnel in place had broken completely in two, yet I was able to use it for the long trip home with RV in tow. When we got home I contacted Andersen to report the problem and provided some photos of the ball funnel. They made no fuss about the issue and PROMPTLY sent a replacement in a few short days, which is now on the kingpin coupler, fits like a glove and looks like it will last for a long time. In my experience, not too many companies would react this way, typically requiring the customer to “go through hoops” in order to get their issue resolved. This was a very pleasant and welcomed surprise, yet it really wasn’t too much of a surprise as I had read on several RV forums how well Andersen responds to customer service issues. Now, I can attest to this as a fact too.Having had the towing and customer experience that I’ve now had, I will tell you I heartily recommend the Andersen Ultimate 5th Wheel Hitch 2 as a great product AND the company for how well they stand behind their products and support their customers. Doesn’t get any better than that. And BTW, I am in no way affiliated with Andersen – I’m just a very satisfied customer, passing on my experience to others.

This hitch was purchased to tow a 35′ fifth wheel in a crew cab standard bed 4WD 3/4 ton pickup. ISR rails were chosen to help minimize weight added to the tow vehicle.The hitch pulls confidently and has very little bucking and is virtually silent, both unlike a kingpin fifth wheel. The hitch is very sturdy yet light and easy to remove and install. GCVW is around 19K lbs in my application for reference. I have not yet tried to turn to 90° but am pretty sure it would do it. The adapter did have to be installed 180° due to the short bed. Hooking up is easy. Weight transfer to the truck was fairly even lightening the front end at full load by <100 lbs as measured on a CAT scale. It was easy to get the trailer level with the tow vehicle level under load. No additional parts purchased or modified to make that happen in this case. Depends on vehicle and trailer specifics I expect.I will likely not consider a conventional fifth wheel hitch unless some future application demands it and will choose the Andersen again should I need to purchase another.2021 UPDATE: After a recent extreme cold snap, I noticed the plastic coupler insert laying on the ground beneath the RV. Presumably the heat cycling allowed the interference fit insert to fall out of the coupler. I contacted Andersen support, described the situation, and they are sending out an entire new coupler. This is exemplary customer service reaffirming that this hitch is the way to go if it fits one’s needs. Over a year later, still would purchase and recommend this hitch.

My impressions after setting up the hitch and towing for the 1st time with a 2016 Ford F-250 short bed truck:-Setup and instructions was a breeze-The hitch is light and easy to remove from the bed-The hitch is quiet, no clunking or chucking sounds-The hitch/kingpin adapter are greaseless & clean-You can hitch from multiple angles (depending on tailgate clearance)Notes:-I am not able to view the hitch ball from my rear view mirror, which would be my only con. So I will have to devise a process to help with aligning to the king pin adapter over the ball.-I haven’t decided on the safety chains yet, though in some states they are required-I will purchase 1 piece hitch pins which will make it easier to remove/attach the hitch after every trip

I really like how light weight and easy this is to set up. I remove it after every camping trip since I may need the bed of the truck for something else. The only issue I had, and I am sure I did something wrong, was I damaged the bed of the truck on a tight turn around at a campground. I am certain I set the ball height per the instructions but it was still too low and in that tight turn the kingpin box hit the top bed rail. I studied the set up after the damage and raised mine up 2 more spots to make sure this never happens again.

I purchased this hitch for my 2018 Ram 2500 with the factory puck system. I tried both Curt and B@W ball kits but neither worked because the coupling tube was too long for the B@W and too short for the Curt. I contacted Andersen and they are shipping the p/n 3237 tube which will work with the B@W ball kit. I have no towing experience with the hitch yet, but I will report back when that happens.

This hitch mounted Up easy and towed like a dream. There wasn’t any of the chucking that you usually get from a normal fifth wheel hitch. It is super light and easy to install and take off. I can store it hanging on my wall to get it out-of-the-way.

I’ll start by saying I am generally pleased with the hitch, it’s reduced the chucking I experienced compared to the old traditional hitch I was using. It’s easier to line up to since I can see both the ball and the aluminum block when backing to connect. It’s also a simpler hitch design which contributes to its lightness and lower cost. Good engineering sense. The part I find a little more difficult than my old hitch is decoupling. My two vehicles move away from each other as I raise the 5th Wheel and I decouple them, even if I block the wheels and even on level ground. I suspect as the front of the 5th wheel is lifting it is pivoting backwards, on the rear axle. The truck is doing the same thing, the rear lifts as it pivots on the front axle. This causes some minor damage to the ball and to the aluminum receiver block as the ball drags across the front edge of the hole as it exits the aluminum block. The ball part of the hitch is now scored and chipped after just two short RV trips. The manufacturer, Andersen Inc asked me to send some pictures to them, did that earlier this week (Nov 17). They seemed interested in helping me. (I purchased the hitch through a distributor, not directly from Andersen) I’ll update and re-score this review when I hear back from Andersen. FYI, my 5th wheel has a GVWR of 10,400 pounds with about 19% of the load on the hitch, as it should be. The RV rides level when it’s hitched. I pull it with a Chevy Silverado 2500 HD Diesel long bed.

This is one amazing hitch !!! It is awesome, it is easy to connect – just get within an inch or two over the ball and drop the trailer and push in the set pin. Ready to go!! It tows great, no clanking , no noise. Built super solid from aluminum. I can throw this in the truck and torque the 3 bolts and be ready to go in 5 minutes and the same to remove. If you already have a turnover ball, then don’t even consider those others. If you don’t, I think it would worth it to put one in, best of both worlds. My truck already had a curt with a double pin ball- it makes this Anderson even more secure in my mind- even though all the others work perfect as well. The aluminum is more money, but worth it if I can load it myself. Bonus-made in America!!

After using this hitch for one whole season now I can truthfully say that this has got to be the best thing for pulling a firth wheel that’s sold on the open market!It’s light … that’s the only reason I bought it. Boy, was I ever happy after I started using it. Easy to install and remove. Did I say that I am now well into my 70’s and I can handle this with no strain. It’s light!On my very first trip (about 4 hours up into the PA mountains) I found that if I didn’t use my cruise control I would find myself going way faster than I wanted. It was due to the fact that the hitch was SOOOO quiet! No chucking and bucking as with my old Reese.It’s also way easy to hook up and unhook. I always had problems releasing the Reese after backing into my driveway because of a very slight offset from level. No so with this Anderson. Also I do NOT have to be even close to being straight fore & aft. I can be at right angles to hook (unhook)!It took me longer to remove my old Reese than it did to reinstall the new Anderson – oh yeah, did I say how light it is?

Hitch is lightweight, just what I needed to avoid the heavy work of mounting the standard heavy hitch. Also, it is very easy to engage and disengage. Just one extra feature would be great – include a long 1/4″ allen wrench that can take 40 in-lbs of torque. Most standard ones are too short to use with the red cone in place.
