    Comfortable but bulky

The support and comfort is great ! However quite bulky for backpacking and not as light as I had hoped. I just didn’t read the description close enough.

    Perfect!

This little pillow has been on 5 trips with me so far. It’s perfect for backpacking, much better than an inflatable pillow. It packs down almost to a similar si3 as my Nemo sleeping pad.Love it!

Not as compact as I thought it would be.

I haven’t used the pillow yet. This is just my first impression. It’s less compact than I would have hoped, but it does seem comfortable and really light. I’m going backpacking in a week or two and I’ll update my review once I’ve used the pillow.

    Perfect size and never flat

This pillow is soft, never flat and a perfect size for both camping and backpacking. I used to use a smaller travel pillow for backpakcing because it was small however it was really too small. This pillow is slightly bigger so does take up a little bit more room in my backpack but its worth the head support and more sound sleep. It is still VERY lightweight even though it is slightly larger than the travel pillow I was using. The material they use always plumps up even after being stored in its sack. It also has a pleasant soft cloth that does not irritate the skin or catch on clothing. Perfect in every way.

    It’s a good product.

It’s better than an inflatable pillow. I wish it were more “collapsible” than it is but that’s the trade off. If you’re trying to save space in your backpack, of course, you’ll want to go with an inflatable

    Good for bad neck

You’ll see that I’ve reviewed another travel pillow as well. I’ve kept both of them. I prefer this one just a bit over the other. My severely damaged neck seems to prefer this one. I gave a second one of these to a friend who also travels a lot and carries their pillow around with them like I do. We’re both sleeping on them at home in a test run. Mine will likely be in my luggage when I make my next week-long trip to the east coast. Way better than having to take my full size bamboo and memory foam with me, which has been all over the US and Europe with me in the past.

    Don’t Believe the size measurements

Listed measurements of the medium were 14×18 inches and the small was 12×16 inches. When I received the pillow, initially I thought they sent me the small instead of the medium. I measured out 12×16 on the pillow I received which would indicate the pillow being a size small. I realized that the dimensions they measured were for the pillow case itself, not including the pillow. After taking out the pillow, I measured the case and came out to 14×17.5 inches which was the dimensions for the medium. The pillow itself is decent. To be honest, I feel it’s much more comfy in its rolled up position rather that taken out. It really needs a lot of fluffing before being used as intended. Amazon returns was amazing since they sent out the replacement pillow after I thought they sent me the smaller pillow.

    More comfortable than inflatable pillows!!

These compress down pretty well and fit into their carrying back. It does not take much to fluff them out. They seem to have pieces of foam in them and are way more comfortable than the inflatable pillows.

    Small/Medium Green is 11 x 14 inches

Very comfortable. I’m a side-sleeper and it’s hard for me to find supportive pillows. My ears don’t stick out far from my face but somehow they’re always hurting on normal pillows. So far my ears feel fine which is a huge relief. The green is a vibrant jewel tone teal which I like.I like to be extremely comfortable while I’m camping so this will do fine for my purposes. My sleeping bag and pad are also gigantic in their compression & stuff sacks so my pillow might as well be too. Packed down it’s about 10 x 5 inches. This is doable for my hike-in campsites. Excellent for car camping. It packs down, but it’s still huge. I don’t know how else they could make it as comfortable as it is, only smaller, so it might not be possible. If you’re an average backpacker looking for a packable pillow, you might be disappointed. Be warned, there’s a little bit of a “new memory foam” smell when you first use it. Has been the case with all my memory foam items. It goes away.

    Comfort? Yes! Travel-Friendly? Eh…

I’d like to start by saying that this is a supremely comfortable travel pillow. Near bed-at-home levels of comfort, honestly. But the caveat there is that this doesn’t necessarily translate well into the travel aspect. It does pack down, sure, but not nearly enough to make this an ideal option unless you value comfort over the amount of space this will take up (slightly smaller than my compressed sleeping bag). In my case, I have trouble sleeping without something substantially comfortable, so I made it work. But an option that reduced to about half the size while backpacking would be a dream come true. Maybe I’ll have to give the smaller size a try and hope for the best.

Super comfortable! Medium size is worth the extra bulk. Not for the ultralight camper. Spent 6 nights on a BSA sailing trip and this pillow was fantastic. Dries out quickly and didn’t pick up a bad smell, even in the humid tropical conditions. Machine washed and dried no problem.

Comfortable enough for a couple nights tent camping

These are of course no feather pillow but they suffice. Make sure you let them loft up when you receive them and store them put of the bag. They were comfortable and not overly warm for 2 nights tent camping. They would be great as a travel or flying pillow. Of your car camping or glancing they’re on the small side for an adult.

I wish the bag was bigger

It’s a good pillow, comfortable. But I HATE the bag! The pillow is hard to unpack, and hard to stow.Make the bag slightly larger, and add compression straps! That way it’s easier to put away, but then you can tighten the bag around it to make it the same size or smaller. Also, add a handle to the end of the bag to make it easier to remove.

    Great pillow

I’ve tried a number of inflatable pillows, which while compact, just don’t work. This is a very nice pillow and with enough volume that I don’t need another one. If you’re backpacking or something, there are other options, but I’m satisfied with this pillow. They did a good job.

MUCH smaller than described & zero quality control; Wise Owl unable to fulfill orders properly.

TAKE NOTE: Wise Owl does NOT have 14×18 pillows. The LARGEST available is *smaller than* 13×16 (and that’s the CASE dimension, not the PILLOW dimension, and is measured in “stretched out corner-to-corner against a flat, hard surface” inches – not in ACTUAL, usable, real-world inches as seen on any measuring device).Long story short: I ordered Medium pillows and was sent Small ones… 4 times – and after all that, it turns out that their Medium-sized pillows don’t actually exist. Somehow the folks at Wise Owl didn’t even know this, and, hilariously, the interior tags on their (12-13)x(15-16)” pillows say ’14×18.”‘ Before you ask… yes, I absolutely do know how to correctly use a tape measure (though you can be darned sure I was questioning my sanity on those first two sets of pillows!)— but wait… there’s more! With EVERY replacement order (as well as the original), at least one of the—not even close to correct-size—pillows I received was ALSO either obviously used and/or in such tremendously poor ‘new’ condition that it simply was not worth money. Every.Single.One. of them had massive tears, broken zippers, misaligned or ripped out seams that had been haphazardly repaired by hand, stuffing leaking out the pillow itself, etc. You name it – if it can go wrong with a pillow, I encountered it several times in EVERY batch of fresh out of the box ‘new’ pillows they sent me.After several failed attempts to have the order replaced, (which necessitated going directly to Wise Owl’s customer service after the first one, since Amazon couldn’t care less about their fulfillment mistakes), I finally gave up and told them to just cancel the order. Ridiculous!Maybe at one point in the past they actually sold Medium (14×18) pillows, but they absolutely, unequivocally DO NOT as of the date of this review.Unfortunately, the tiny little pillows they DO sell are much too small for an adult human to comfortably use – especially when camping. Even my petite 14yo niece said they were too small for HER to consider using; given the choice, she’d rather just ball up a hoodie and sleep on that.Maddeningly, nearly this exact same problem occurred when I attempted to order camp towels from Wise Owl in the last few months; totally inconsistent, not-NEARLY-as-advertised sizes, shoddy-bordering-on-unusable quality, etc. As a result, I simply can’t recommend buying anything from Wise Owl aside from their Hammocks (and that’s assuming THOSE are still being produced the way they’re supposed to – it was well over a year ago when I bought ours). The entire ordeal was, at least, very illuminating. The manufacturer(s) that produces their merchandise has obviously been cutting every possible corner without Wise Owl noticing, and as a result they’ve now completely lost control of their brand. Quality is abysmal across the board, to such an extent that they simply cannot fulfill orders for products that have anything CLOSE to their advertised and intended dimensions or characteristics. If Wise Owl ever gets a handle on the enormous manufacturing nightmare they’re caught up in, and can manage to actually get me the pair of 14×18 pillows I ordered, I will update this review to let everyone know at that point that they actually exist.

I may be small but I am comfy

This understandably small pillow is nonetheless quite comfortable. The Fill material is fairly dense, which means it doesn’t immediately collapse under the lightest weight. This does have the slight downside of making it somewhat less packable than you might hope, but it ain’t heavy and you got to fill up your backpack somehow.

Great Pillow for Auditorium & Restaurant Seats for Short Adult & a Better Bag for It

As above. We’re not campers, but one of us is under 5 ft tall and is uncomfortable in now-enlarging auditorium (classical concerts, lecture halls, etc.) and restaurant seats & booths. The small size fits the bill. However warning: if you have any hand arthritis, it can hurt to try to put this genie back in its bottle (the bag it came with). We’re now purchasing an additional set of packing compression bags (which we’ll have other use for anyhow) to get a small one (we think the small one in this set would work: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B085TBLXQB/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=ASO0FDN8DN04W&th=1; in other sets we have, the small was too small and the medium compress it down much) for packing this. We always carry a small/medium duffel with us in black, to hold sweaters & this pillow, so prefer using compression bag to save space. Hope this helps someone, even a camper who finds the free bag too tight.

    Great travel pillow

Bought for a long haul trip this summer which included multiple airline trips eventually getting to Philadelphia and then driving back to Alaska. As someone who doesn’t sleep well on planes I’ve tried many different travel pillows and related items with limited success. I also wanted something compact, light and could be used for camping. This by far has been the best airplane pillow! Stored easily in my carry on, perfect size – big enough to offer comfort and support to my head while not semi suffocating my husband. Even he liked it when he tried it out later after our travels ended, and he’s picky about pillows! I don’t like it for camping (too small for me) but hands down it’s a great airplane pillow!

Like it, but don’t lump it.

Use this pillow as head support when I lay on the lounge chair on my lanai. Provides good support and is medium firm. My only concern that the pillow is a bit lumpy. However, having purchased an air inflatable pillow first that constantly deflated, this is a minor concern and I suspect will lose at least some of its lumps over time.

I’m so happy to own this.

I work construction and spend a lot of down time in my truck during lunch or waiting on material some days I like to take full advantage and take naps in the there, and this pillow is the perfect size, shape, and stiffness for that. I’ve used it on my hammock, on the floor, on grass, and as a back support on long drives. Easy to wash the pillow cover, too. I fully recommend this.

    Comfort?

    Just the right size

It feels like a pillow from your home. Great size for traveling and it compresses into the carry bag or your backpack. Light weight that you don’t notice the additional weight in your backpack. Nice that it compresses down, and you can store it in a travel carry bag or backpack so when you are boarding or traveling on a train, bus or plane it doesn’t get dirty.

I bought this for camping–I think the medium size one. It looks nice and feels nice, but it’s not thick enough for me because I sleep on my side and have problems with my shoulder.

Nice Pillow – A Little Smaller than Expected

My inflatable pillow died and I needed to replace it, but this time one that didn’t need inflation. I purchased the medium which was smaller than I expected. It fluffs up nicely. The seam stitching seems solid/durable. I tried it out. Felt comfortable and supportive, but the true test will be my next camping trip. Again, a nice pillow and no need to worry about it deflating in the middle of the night. I normally don’t use the stuff sacks, but was surprised to find this went back in the sack pretty easily.

Probably not worth the price but not bad

I was flying with all my camping gear in a suitcase that weighed less than 50lbs, space was an issue. This worked fine for a weekend on an air mattress but it’s smaller than I’d have liked. The compression is good and the loft when out of the bag isn’t bad, it really isn’t. But for the price I’d have likely been better off just going to walmart or target and getting a cheap bed pillow and tossing it after (if you don’t mind the waste). It’ll make a decent car and travel pillow so I’m glad for that but it’s not worth the price.

    Wise Owl Camping Pillow

I was looking for a small sized pillow that would give support to my back. I didn’t need a camping pillow- just the small size and this fit the bill. This pillow is small enough to give support to the small of my back and help ear pain when I sit in some chairs that are uncomfortable for me.

This pillow is not for me.

Ultimately, I returned this pillow. I bought 2 pillows, one inflatable and this one, to take with me offshore. On rigs, the pillows are the greatest. Decided to get a camping pillow to try to improve my comfort. Tested this pillow and returned it. Fill material is chopped foam, so makes for a very lumpy feel. I am a side sleeper, and the pillow wasn’t thick enough to support my head. Also, the pillow is hard to pack and is very large compared to an inflatable. If you are looking for an ultralight camping pillow, or something that packs small, keep on looking.

    Not Memory Foam

If this is Memory Foam, as it states in the description, then it is pieces of memory foam. This is not a solid memory foam pillow. I bought it to use in a hotel in place of flat pillows. I really wanted to like this pillow but I didn’t, My son did.

I bought two of these Medium pillows for summer camp that my son and I went to this year. Let me start by saying the only reason I don’t like it is because its too soft and small for me. By soft I mean the pillow bottoms out when I put my head on it. I measured and it is 4″ thick but when I put my head on it, it almost disappears. They could add 20-25% more stuffing and it would be great. My son liked his, I didn’t even bring mine. What I did do is stuff a standard size memory foam pillow in the stuff sack and used that! The quality of this pillow is great, the seams were not torn or coming undone like some people said, no rips or stains. the zippier works just fine and IT IS MEMORY FOAM, people who complain that it’s not are expecting a brick of foam which this isn’t, it is shredded/torn memory foam filling that is exactly like my $60 memory foam pillows that I use on my bed. TLDR its great for kids, not for people with bowling balls for heads like me. WISE OWL, ADD MORE FILLING ! I was able to stuff a pillow 3x the size of this one in the same bag.

    Bigger than the photo

The pillow was comfortable, but the product photo is deceiving. In the photo, it looks as if the pillow can be compressed down to fit into a carrying bag a fraction of its full size. In reality, the carrying bag is as tall as the pillow itself and the product cannot really be compressed. I managed to roll it up but struggled to get it into the carrying bag. It is really too large for a back pack. I would only recommend this product for drive in camping and not through hiking. It’s way too bulky—takes up almost as much pack space as your sleeping bag.

Some of the best sleep I’ve ever had

As a travel and landscape photographer, I travel often. Depending on the assignment, I might be sleeping at a 5 star hotel in Munich or in a tent in Papua New Guinea. The common denominator in all of these places is the difficulty I have sleeping without my pillow from home. That’s no longer an issue because of the Wise Owl travel pillow. To my surprise, I’ve enjoyed some of the best sleep of my life using this pillow while adding very little weight to my backpack or suitcase.I’ve tried many different travel pillows over the years but until, like Goldilocks, I found the one that is “just right.”

    Not ideal for side sleepers.

It took me a while to use this pillow because of cancelled camping trips. However, this weekend I managed to get out and use it for two nights. I found it never really “re-inflated” but instead remained flat with obvious waves in the memory foam from how it was rolled for storage. As an avid side sleeper, it was woefully insufficient. I think I would have had more success leaving it in its pack and supporting my head with it rolled up. It packs down the size of my hammock, which is acceptable. The quality seems fine and if you don’t fancy a thick pillow, this would probably serve you well as an inexpensive option. It wasn’t right for me, but it could very well suit your needs.

    My new backpacking pillow.

I have multiple backpacking pillows. My prior go to pillow was an inflatable hikenture pillow. Prior to buying that inflatable, I always just rolled up a jacket for camping/backpacking. The inflatable pillow was a game changer. This much bulkier to pack than an inflatable, and is heavier, but for me it is worth the extra weight because it is SO much more comfortable. I still bring the inflatable pillow since I like one between my knees, but this is head and shoulders above an inflatable. Feels like a real pillow that I would use at home (not quite as good, but close). My wife liked the teton sports pillow. I thought that one felt too small. Even this is a little small, but for me is the perfect balance. Any bugger and I wouldn’t carry it backpacking.

    Comfortable but hard to pack

It’s an extremely comfortable pillow, but it’s just a bit hard to pack up. When you want to roll it, all the foam filling sometimes moves to one side and makes it hard to pack into it’s sack. Quite enjoy it for backpacking tho.

    Good for camping

Bought this for a 3 day camping trip. It’s a little too bulky for hiking but if you are dropping a base camp, this is the pillow for you. Two sides give a different feel – one is silky and the other feels more like flannel.I slept well on this pillow. I am a side sleeper.I would buy again.

    Not Memory Foam

If this is Memory Foam, as it states in the description, then it is pieces of memory foam. This is not a solid memory foam pillow. I bought it to use in a hotel in place of flat pillows. Haven’t used it yet to sleep on, so can’t review comfort, but I am having my doubts about “neck support” already. Will update after using for a full nights sleep.

    Great Car camping pillow

Very comfortable pillow rolls up small but not small enough to carry in a suitcase or backpacking. I purchased a medium so maybe the small would fit for those activities better. Great for car camping!

    Perfect!

This little pillow has been on 5 trips with me so far. It’s perfect for backpacking, much better than an inflatable pillow. It packs down almost to a similar si3 as my Nemo sleeping pad.Love it!

This pillow is great, i did not test pillow prior to going camping. For two weeks in the woods of Wisconsin this Pillow held it shape and felt better than my pillows at home. I was concerned about the size, but it did not hinder any performance

Not bad at all. Better than blowup pillows.

This is just a small pillow that rolls up into a bag. It expands “a little” and settles as a good pillow for travel. Much better than blowing up yet another thing at the campsite.

    Great little pillow

This thing does what I need it to. Keep my head off of anything hard. It’s a little stiff IMO but not enough for me to return it. It also doesn’t compress…like at all. It just rolls/stuffs bag into the bag. Other than that, I definitely recommend.

Not thick enough for a side sleeper

I bought this for camping–I think the medium size one. It looks nice and feels nice, but it’s not thick enough for me because I sleep on my side and have problems with my shoulder. I think I’ll keep it in case I have a friend come camping with me who doesn’t have a pillow. It’s nice and soft, but just not for me.

    Comfy Camp pillow

Super comfy. I ordered 2. One for me and the other for my fiancé. We love how compact and light it is. Kinda wish it had a little more support, but for a camp pillow it definitely does its job.

    Comfortable but not high enough

More comfortable than those inflatable ones but you need to put jackets etc underneath it to be high enough. Doesn’t pack down super small.

Super comfortable! Worth the extra bulk.

    More comfortable than inflatable pillows!!

These compress down pretty well and fit into their carrying back. It does not take much to fluff them out. They seem to have pieces of foam in them and are way more comfortable than the inflatable pillows.
