    Better than expected

Really easy to put up and take down. We were able to lift it over an 8ft picnic table and have lots of room for extra chairs and a table. Very satisfied.

    One of our better purchases

Easy and fast set up. Easy and fast take down. Easy to put back in storage bag. Provides ample space for a picnic table inside. Protection from the bugs. We have only used it it dry weather so was unable to provide a rating for water resistance.

Easy to set up, as long as it’s not packed inside out

This is a great screen house. I enjoy it so much that I bought a three-pack of matching privacy panels. One catch- the damn thing was packed inside out. After setting it up and realizing the logo was on the inside, I had to remove 50% of the support poles to flip it. Was a very frustrating afternoon for my best friend and me.

Great product but it happened to us!

My husband reluctantly did not want to put this up thinking it was a pain. I told him it would go up in a snap because I watched the video! I watched the video from the company two weeks prior. Well I knew it went up easy and I knew I would think it was inside out but it wasn’t going to be. I accidentally popped something out of sequence that I wasn’t supposed to do. This made it so everything went up as planned but one part was inside out and I could not fix it. My husband‘s cussed and threaten to throw it in the dumpster. I refuse to do this to the company because I knew by all the reviews how many people had sent this product back to them. Well, happened to us but it wasn’t their fault it was my fault, I did something wrong. We put this up in our campsite with other campers watching us. It was incredibly comical but again it was our fault and this is an amazing product. Watch the video first and watch it right before you put it up. Save this company the hassle of paying the return shipping. They have a good thing here but people… Watch the video! Lol The video is only three minutes and you can save yourself the comedy show that was us trying to put this thing up! #HappilyMarried! 😜💕

    Easy setup and take down.

The product it great! It is easy to setup and take down. We use it all year long. It is a great wind break with the added sides. It also provides shelter from the sun and bugs. It is light enough to carry but very long.

    Excellent shelter

Have a smaller trailer to bought for added space when camping and rainy. Ended up having to by a separate rain fly but now all set. For its overall size when set up it compacts pretty well for storage. First time setting up was a bear because we were trying to turn it inside out. Once we turned to utube for help it was a breeze and easy to pack up. Recommend having a few people help so you can get staked down while popping up. We have comfortably waited out rain with 6 adults and 2-3 kids and a dog. Use a small heater and keeps warm easily. HighlyRecommend

    Perfect for camping

Quick and easy to assemble and take down. We are able to store ours in our class B camper van standing upright when in the bag. Can’t think of anything I don’t like about it except maybe the cost but I think the quality will be worth it in the end.

One person can put up and take down

I’m an older lady partially disabled, who loves to camp, and often do it on my own. I first seen this at a camp ground as another camper put it up. You can believe everyone around him was curious and asking questions. After hearing him rave about it, and his demonstration of it going up and down, I’m sure several people were online looking it up. I know I was! I ordered one and the day it arrived me and my best friend who is not mechanical inclined at all, immediately went to work seeing if it was indeed as simple as it looked. As many other reviews have pointed out, read the directions first!!! It does look backwards at first glance, but if you set it out the right way to begin with, there is absolutely no problem setting this up! We timed it, my very first time setting it up took 7 minutes! That was me alone, with friend reading directions. It went back down just as fast! AND IT ACTUALLY FITS BACK IN ITS BAG, NO HASSLE! I’ve now taken it camping with me a couple times, I absolutely love it!! My husband went with me recently and was very impressed with how simple it was, ( and delighted he didn’t need to do anything but set his chair inside) we had 2 other couples come check it out and both said they had ordered them one the same day, after watching me pop it up, and seeing how roomy ours was. I purchased the 9×9, it was enough room for 2 reclining chairs, and one extra wide chair, 2 small tables, a fan and cooler, without us having to climb over anything. I also purchased the side covers…we haven’t really used them but did try them out, they attach super easy, block out sun, and will definitely give privacy. Like most other reviews my only complaint thus far would be, is I had to purchase 2 packs of the side covers to have enough, which actually leaves you with an extra one. I think seller should offer packages that sell for each size they sale.

Fits in my travel trailer locker

I am amazed at how fast this can erected. I find it tricky but manageable to assemble around a picnic table. I have not found a good technique to collapse it while over a picnic table without being confident the pin ice table corners nlmight damage the mesh . We have taken the 2 of us to manipulate the tent away from the table to collapse. It does get warm inside if temp is above 90. Have not experienced wind or rain yet.It is compact enough to fit width-wise across the trailer under the bed. I have no regrets with this purchase.

    Great screen tent

This tent was easy to set up (once we read the directions). Provided hours of bug-free relaxation. Zippered door was easy to use. We purchased metal stakes to use instead of the plastic ones that came with the tent. Easy to take down too. Highly recommend.

    Great addition when camping

Got the large size, 11.5ft, and used it for a camping trip at the beach. It was a bit tight for the site and camper but liked the size and would buy again. We comfortably fit 3 camping chairs, a lounger chair, folding table for tv/movies at night without bugs! We did put a fan in (tilted up as it circulated better bouncing off roof) as it was hot, but July at beach is going to be hot in or out of the screen tent! Nice to not have sun pounding on u. I did buy stronger stakes, but that’s me, may not have needed to. Wind was pretty strong at times but it didn’t budge! Great buy!Campers a month earlier had one and a bad storm hit. It collapsed on one side ofter some time, but faired far better than some other tents. I was sold then!

    Impressive

I don’t give five star reviews. This product/model is worth it. I’ve seen other models that do not have what this does. The walls are easy to use. Surprisingly, they retain a little bit of body heat in cooler nights. Rain (heavy Adirondack rain), was repelled for the most part, a little bit of seeping through the seams, but nowhere near what I expected for such heavy rain. Very impressed with the manufacturer water resistant properties. I’ll be adding my own later, but it was a pleasant surprise to see it do so well right out of the box.

Ordered the CLAM Quick-Set Escape Shelter and received it within two days. We absolutely love it. Comes in one piece, extremely easy to set up, took us about 1 minute to set it up ( that’s with reading the directions), and take down was easy peasy ( less than a minute). We are planning to purchase the side wall panels for it. I highly recommend this product!!

    A BREEZE TO (DIS)ASSEMBLE!

Best camping-related purchase we’ve made since getting an RV! This “shelter” serves multiple purposes: keeps bugs away, protects the picnic/eating area from rain, provides a privacy area (especially when the wind panels are hung). The best feature is that it takes so little time to assemble (about 5 minutes), it is easy to move around (we usually assemble it in an open area, then lift it between the two of us to place it over the campsite’s picnic table) and takes a maximum of 10 minutes to repack. It’s also light weight, so these senior citizens don’t need to huff and puff to get it in and out of the RV. Wish I had thought of getting one much sooner!!

    Summer Escape Pod

Thanks to reviews we chose the CLAM and it’s exactly what we wanted; large, airy, and SO quick to put up (with two). The mesh appears quite dark from outside the pod but from inside is so fine it’s like having windows and the green fabric blends into the surrounding landscape. After heavy rain, the roof fabric had repelled very well and although screens had let rain in everything dried out quickly. The quality of materials and construction is excellent and feels sturdy enough to leave up for summer, barring heavy storms.

This is the easiest to assemble awning ever made. But don’t rely on the written instructions provided. Watch the YouTube video on setup. Honestly I’m 5’1″ 104 and can set this up by myself in under 2 minutes. It’s that easy. Just trust me… watch the video!

    Good quality

This screen house tent is well designed. Easy to pop-up and take down. It weathered two storms while camping and had no problems. Having the sewn in rain flaps is much better. I can lower and zip them down in under a minute. This could easily be used as a tent, with the floor attachment. The only negative is how long it is when collapsed and in carrying bag. Thats the only downside to this easy up.

Great, tight mesh to keep even the smallest bugs out.

Easy setup. Mesh is small enough to even keep no-seeums out but still has good air flow. Big enough for at least 4 chairs comfortably. We also bought the side panels and they are easy to install thanks to the Velcro tabs.

Read the instructions before you do ANYTHING!

I wanted to try to put this up alone just like one of the videos showed…but my “helper” came to my rescue and before I could read the instructions he started pulling the thing apart. We ended up starting upside down and inside out which resulted in a major tangle! Once we figured out how to correct our mistake it went up like a dream. We left it up overnight and it rained so I checked it this morning. Rain comes in through the screen sides obviously, but the top is watertight. We will pay close attention to instructions on taking it down and packing it up correctly so that our next set up goes smoothly. Here is to many bug free days ahead! Cheers from Minnesota!

    Question about zipper

We just received this yesterday. Seems like an awesome product. I do have one concern. The zipper has one spot that the “teeth” are just slightly off so it wants to “catch” when we zip it. We can get it zipped all the way but not sure, long term, if this “spot” will become an issue. Thoughts??

    Great !

Easy to assemble, great cover and much easier then the ones with the add on panels. You do need to tie it down when windy a bit. Only thing , it’s huge, need a truck to take it anywhere. Packed, it’s As long as the hight of the Pavillion . Fairly heavy to carry

Set up and too down by myself!! Super Easy!!

I am so happy with this screen house!! I’m able to set it up all by myself in under 2 minutes. Take down was also super fast and easy. I did as other reviews instructed….step inside, zip the screen about half way and pull the center down. Then step out and finish zipping. Then simply push each wall in and stuff it all back into the bag. Could not be easier. Very roomy too. I put a 6×9 rug inside with room to spare. Could easily put a picnic table inside

This is well worth the money

This clam has been an amazing addition to our camping equipment. We have used it at beaches, lakes, campsites and it is so quick to set up! It is spacious inside and Def keeps the mosquitos out! It covers the bottom so bugs can fly under the tent (like other set ups we have used). I love this product. It is expensive but has been worth it!

EASY and quick to setup and takedown

I have been camping since I was very young, and have years of exposure to multiple screen houses growing up with my parents camping. In fact, screen houses were such a pain to setup with all the poles and pockets and awful construction that my family of 5 now has not had a screen house for about 5 years or so. Well, we upgraded from a popup camper to a bunkhouse 30 footer, and we started to look at screen tents again. Came across this clam a few months ago and have researched their claims and found most user reviews to agree they are easy to setup- so we finally purchased one for our most recent trip.WOW. Very easy to setup, and you can see and feel the extra quality and care on every component. I wathced a few videos prior to purchase, and that did help me have a more visceral understanding of setup and takedown- but honestly I feel its pretty easy even with the instructions that are included. My wife and myself were able to take it out fo the bag and have it setup in less than 1 minute! It took longer to find my hammer for the stakes than to actually setup the CLAM! And takedown is just as easy- it just pops down like a umbrella and bunches together- then throw it in the bag! And bless the team that designed this- the storage bag is actually bigger than it needs to be so you can actually put it back in the bag it came in!This CLAM screen tent cannot even be compared to anything coleman makes- so don’t bother comparing. The material is thick, and strong. All of the poles are high quality, and everywhere where the poles attach is well thought out and strong. The zipper is high quality as well- and the screen material is fine mesh to keep out the no see-ums.My only criticism is really the span across the top above the door/zipper. You have to sort of use one hand to hold the material above the zipper so that you can pull the zipper closed behind you from the outside, would have been nice to have a piece of material there to grab onto. Better yet, another pole that folds out inside the screen tent to span this opening would be perfect to create some structure there above the zipper. After a week long camping trip with three kids and a large dog, I am very impressed with this CLAM screen tent. It’s obvious to me this product has been well thought out and improved over time- in my opinion well worth the 30% cost increase over a comparable coleman or wenzel product.

Just watch the video it makes setup a breeze!!

We old folks needed something easy to move between the house area and river- this fits the bill. It truly does set up easily and quickly if you watch the how to video first. I do see how many people mistakenly thought it arrived inside out, but if they had just given it a try they would have been thrilled with the easier set up and sturdiness of this. We don’t leave it out in windy weather, we don’t want to take a chance, but in typical weather it works perfectly!! I definitely recommend this item.

    Great Design!

Very well made, extremely easy to put up and take down. Just watch the manufacturer video on YouTube. We will really enjoy the extra outdoor, bug free space while camping! We did not stake it down for these pictures, but that is also very well designed.

You know you want it – as well you should! It’s worth the price!

We spent a lot of time looking at screened shelters prior to buying this, partially because the price was higher than we had in mind. We finally bit the bullet, and got it, prior to a late summer/early autumn one week trip to the Adirondacks. Temperatures were in the high 80s when we left home, and were expected to be similar there, and to stay hot throughout our planned stay, but we had gotten the wind panels (one set of three and another set of two, as they don’t work on the side with the door) on the principle that we’d need them sometime, and there’d be no easier time to get the ones which best fit this Clam.Prior to the camping trip, we set up the Clam on our lawn to get the hang of it, and make sure there were no glaring problems with it (a real concern considering the box was beaten up and broken in several places, including being open almost entirely around the middle). I managed to beam myself pulling the center loop down when starting to take it down, largely because of my height in relation to the Clam’s having forced me to be right under the hub in order to reach and pull on the attached loop. I was able to quickly make a long loop to attach to that, using materials at hand, which both allows us to reach for and pull the loop when not standing directly under the hub, and also serves as a hanging loop for a light, allowing us to reach it and its controls when the loop is hanging directly over a campsite picnic table, and we (again) have to stretch to reach it.As usual, the day was drawing to a close by the time we got to our campsite. We were able to get our Instant Tent and Clam pitched well before we lost the light, and get dinner started quickly, which made for a much more pleasant evening than we would have had without the Clam. It protected us well from over-exposure to sunlight during the days, as well as bugs during our six day visit. My husband, who likes to rig things, had a great time coming up with new ways to use the two panels he put over screen sections to block the sun, and neither of us, although melanin challenged, got sunburned. When the temperature suddenly plummeted 45ºF in a few hours, and the wind picked up, it was easy to put the rest of the wind panels on quickly, and we were reasonably snug in the Clam.Since then we’ve found that the Clam, with wind panels does a great job of protecting us from very heavy rain, and we’re sure that the flaps over the wind panels on this model make a difference. When we break camp, it’s quite easy to take the Clam down without beaming myself again by using the loop extension, as I was able to stand off to the side a little bit, as I pulled the center straight down. This has been a great addition to our camping gear, and should help us to have more great camping experiences for many seasons to come! We now have a little camper/travel trailer, and having the Clam effectively doubles our living space, so it’s still a highly prized part of our kit!

    Best purchase ever.

The price put me off for a long time, but the Clam is worth the price! I can put it up and take it down by myself in just a minute or two – and I’m a woman in the “retired” age group. With the flaps, it really keeps out the rain & wind. We bought the mid-size model, and it is the perfect size to fit over the huge (8’ ?) tables in a campground. Plus when it’s closed, my little dogs stay in. The mid-size is also big enough ti use as extra area to sleep. We also bought 6 flaps, for the 5 sides and an extra to go over the door. We also sprayed it with a water-proof spray. Our first trip with the Clam, it absolutely poured, but we were nice and dry indoors. Wish we would have had it last year when we had to cut our trip short because of the mosquitos and rain.

Clam is excellent option for a portable screen room

Will be using with our small camper, but in the mean time it makes a nice screen room at our cabin. Got the wind screens as well but haven’t used them yet. Easy to set up and take down. Green blends in with nature! Recommend

    fast service and easy setup

I have setup and taken down by myself (older women) and no problems, it can withstand light rain but the first time I had it set up the next day it poured like a inch in half hour, so it roof collapsed by after scooping out the water I was able to push it back into place. i would definintely purchased this again, so far so good.

Yes, this is worth it (comparison)

My previous shelter was from a famous camping brand that had an “instant” frame–brand starts with a C. I made a serious mistake going for that model, because the screens were not integrated onto the frame (you have to attach them), and there were always places where bugs could enter. That model (not the clam) broke after one season. So we went for the Clam–which I had originally preferred but didn’t think I had space for in my car (turns out it’s fine). So as soon as I got the chance to by the Clam, I did.The set up is shockingly fast and easy. The mechanisms feel solid. You absolutely have to stake the clam down for the structural integrity to be seen. If you had strong wind, the additional staking would be necessary (and not difficult). We bought 3 of the panels, and they are great. We were tempted to buy the rain tarp, because the screen mesh extends out from below the roof, so water will run in on the sides if you don’t do something. We already had tarps, so we just use an extra above this on rainy days.I didn’t buy the flooring, but might in the future.Overall, this shelter feels high quality, the mesh is good, the unit is sturdy, the possibility to add panels, floor, and rain tarp make customizing excellent, it’s not too heavy, should fit well in your SUV or on top of your SUV (ours fits in our car carrier), and the continuity of the mesh keeps the bugs out. Between this and the slightly cheaper famous brand instant shelter that you have probably considered, take this one. It’s a little more expensive, but the design is superior.

    Good replacement for an EZ-Up

The only real complaint I have is that the screens do not allow much of a breeze or airflow when zipped up. Great in the spring and fall, not so much in the summer. If I were to purchase again, I would go with a lighter color to reduce the heat in the summer.

The best portable shelter known to man!

We needed a shelter because we were going camping for Thanksgiving and needed a place to serve the food since we were feeding about 14 (yes, we’re crazy people. Lol) and the RV is too cramped to line that many up in there. We almost bought a different one, but I found this after my husband had gone to bed, so I made the decision without him. All I told him was, “I know it cost more, but you will thank me when you put it up the first time.” So the day finally came and he went out to put it up. Just a couple minutes later he came back in and exclaimed, “Omg, that thing is awesome!!!” And over the next few days I listened to him tell everyone how easy it was to put it up. Even the other campers who came by to ask us about it. And yes, I took ALL the credit. LolWhat we liked:The first time he put it up it took about 60 seconds. It is SO easy I don’t think he looked at the instructions once. And taking it down is even easier, if that’s possible. It’s VERY tall. My son in law is about 6’4 and even he had plenty of clearance above his head. It’s very sturdy. We were right on a lake where it gets very windy (that was the main reason we needed it) and we left it up for about 4 nights without any concern about it getting damaged or it getting blown around at all. Even on the warmer days when we had the windows and door open. It might be different if we were just using the screens, but it ties down really well and I think it would take a lot for that to happen. The wind walls are attached, so you always have them with you. Just unroll them from the top and zip them into place. Plus there are windows on them that you can open if you’re still in need of some fresh air. There is a ton of space inside. We put up 2 tables about 6′ long on either side to put the food on. If it had been colder or too windy we could have easily fit chairs on either side of both tables to eat at and I don’t think it would’ve felt crowded.Even though it’s a dark brown color, the light colored roof allowed plenty of light in so we didn’t need a light source until after the sun went down.A day prior when temps were in the high 40s, we tried using one of those small radiator type heaters (the cheap $50 ones from Walmart) to warm it up just in case it got cold enough that we’d have to eat inside. Didn’t end up needing to, but with that tiny heater it got warm enough to be comfortable. We liked the apron along the bottom that should keep most bugs out. Some reviews complained about getting it back in the storage bag after use. This wasn’t a problem for us. It went right back in without any hassle at all. Maybe the bag is bigger now?It didn’t really rain that week so we can’t speak to how dry it stays or if it gets too hot in warmer weather. Then again, we live in the south. No matter where you are, in the shade or not, it is ALWAYS too hot outside. I don’t see it being any worse in any screen room you could buy. Lol

    Fantastic buy

A friend purchased this and loved it. After spending a weekend camping with them and seeing how easy to set up and take down it is, I ordered one. Once it is set up, and you tie it down, it is sturdy as can be, We played cards in the evening with a bright light on hanging from the ceiling. It kept the flying insects at bay! It could only be better if it had some type of floor to keep all of the insects out-tough to do and keep the rain out though, and a better spot to hang the light from.

    Quality product!

I’ve been looking at this Clam for a couple years. After buying my RPod I finally decided to buy this screened in room. I’m EXTREMELY happy that I did! My neighbor helped me set it up — manufacturer says it sets up in 90 seconds…IT’S TRUE! I’m not sure it even took us 90 seconds. The size is amazing & the quality is EXCELLENT. I haven’t had water on it, so I can’t say anything about its water resistance. I can’t wait to take this on my next camping trip. Once I knew I would be keeping this product, I ordered a set of 3 wind panels. I’m sure every camper around me will be jealous when they see me sitting in my Clam BUG FREE! I highly recommend the Clam – it’s not just for camping…my neighbors are thinking of getting one for their backyard.

This thing is a workhorse! Buy it!

We bought a tear drop camper this spring and I wanted something to maximize our living space. I originally bought a Coleman screenhouse which I took on a trip with us without unpacking it first. As I attempted to put it up, I realized I had been sent 2 tops and no screen walls by Coleman. 😡 After a mosquito ridden weekend we returned home and I promptly returned it to Amazon. After reading reviews on the Clam, I decided to pay the big bucks and buy it.I am a happy camper. We took it on a 42 day trip to several National Parks this fall and put it to hard use and it did not disappoint.Although not always possible because of site configuration, I try to place the door to meet my hatchback kitchen. We used the Clam as a living room, dining room, changing room, supply shack and just plain shelter from wind, snow, rain, sleet and hail.In no particular order, here are the highs and lows:- It is large! We would drag the campsite picnic table inside. Some were quite long and we never had an issue with the Clam being too small. We always had room for the long table, two camp chairs and various supply boxes.- It is large! We drive a Ford Explorer. The tent bag fits inside only with the back seats down and still it is just barely inside, but doable.- it is “easy” to set up and take down. Not 45 second easy, but I am a 58 year old woman in mostly decent shape and I can do it by myself, although def much easier with 2 people. The whole rig is one unit. There are 2 shockcorded poles at the entrance – those are the only poles you have to fool with.- You take it out of the bag, unfold it, roof side up, pull out the walls by the attached handles, walk inside and push up the roof, put the 2 shockcorded poles in their slots and stake it down. THAT’S IT.- We found it much easier to wrestle into the tent bag after we wrapped 2 bungee cords around the voluminous end. Getting it into the bag is def the most difficult part of the takedown process.- The walls are permanently attached. You don’t have to zip them on and off as you do with the Coleman.More specifically, the screens stay attached and then you can zipper solid walls down and those walls have a window to unzip as well.- It comes with guylines and stakes to secure it to the ground.- It does not have a floor.- Weather Report: IT IS WATERPROOF, although we did experience condensation on the inside at times, the tent itself did not leak in a variety of inclement weather.During a modestly heavy overnight wet snow in the Tetons, the roof did collapse but we popped it back up in about 4 seconds and knocked the snow off with no further problems. The first time we flatlanders used it in the Rockies, we didn’t use the guy lines. BIG MISTAKE. a rogue wind blew down from the mountains while we were gone and the tent went aloft and was rescued by a neighbor. We put it right back up and did find that 3 of the grommet tabs ripped off (I’m talking WIND!). I repaired them myself with upholstery thread and needles I bought here on Amazon. We bought large metal tent stakes after that and always used the guy lines and had no further issues, until late on the trip one of the grommet rings pulled out – So, I would say the grommets and tabs are the weakest link to the whole rig.We would close it all up and light a couple cans of sterno inside and it would modestly warm the inside so we could eat a bit more comfortably when it was miserably cold and damp.- We had multiple people stop by our campsite and admire both our teardrop and our Clam.- We used this thing hard and it stood up to the heavy use. I would def recommend this for purchase.May, 2021 UPDATEThis Clam is still going strong. We don’t use it as much as we upgraded to a larger camper, specifically so we could eat inside during inclement weather as we travel frequently during the shoulder season, however it gets used a couple times a year for camping with larger groups and it is still intact and functional.Don’t hesitate to buy it. It’s worth the money.

Easy to set up and saved our camping trip!

Set-up: This tent sets up as easy as it looks (watch the video) – truly! On our first try, straight out of the box, it took 1.25 minutes for one person.Construction/durability: The tent seems to be sturdy and well made. We set it up at our campsite at 9000′ in elevation where we had 15-30 MPH winds, and it did just fine. First we only staked it at the base, but once the rainflies went on, it was necessary to guy line out the walls because the force of the wind against the solid surface pushed in that pressure point (no big deal really, with that strong of wind, we should have done this anyway). No tears in the fabric under these conditions or broken poles, and the stakes did their job (more guy lines and stakes would be good to include though – I luckily had some extras with us to use).Usage note: The way the flies go on requires you to pull the tent wall straps through the center of the fly (grommeted), and tie the guy line from there – if you set your guy lines without the fly on, you’ll have to undo the lines to get the fly on, and then reset the lines. We put up all the flies and just dropped the unneeded flies down half way and tethered the loose ends to each other or to the bottom so they didn’t flap around. This made for a nice half-wall effect all the way around when the walls weren’t needed, and it allowed for super quick raising when they were needed.Design flaw:#1 The rain flies go on the outside of the tent walls, but they do not have a flap at the top that allows the rain to roll off the top and onto the OUTSIDE of the fly. This causes rain to roll down to the INSIDE of the shelter, though it does stay on the walls which is better than nothing, just be aware of this. The center tension point in the ceiling also drips into the tent (we used a kettle to catch the dripping water). The tent just needs a little “skirt” that would hang over the hooks and velcro for the fly, and a more sealed design at the top. The rain we experienced with the tent was light and mostly blowing from the side, so it wasn’t really an issue. We had tested the tent at home with a hose and realized the poor design flaw there – CLAM should do the same (it’ll take you 3 min, tops).#2 This is a MONSTER to transport. It’s 6′ long, though fairly narrow around. Be prepared for this when you give a shipping address. In action: We took it on a camping trip in Colorado to a site at about 9000′ in elevation. We set it up, picked it up and walked it to set over the 6′ picnic table that was at our campsite. We brought in our very large cooler, and small camp prep table, and we still had plenty of room for 4 kids and 4 adults to sit at the table and stand around talking. Because it was windy and chilly, we put on the rainflies on the prevailing wind side, which kept us warmer. We ended up putting the flies on all the way around (except the door), but dropped them down half way so we could more quickly raise them up when needed, which was necessary at dinner time. It turned the screen house into more of a yurt where we were happy and warm (especially compared to our campsite neighbors who were cooking and eating in the windy rain).I would absolutely recommend this tent for anyone that doesn’t believe in suffering while camping (or that doesn’t like bugs, sun, wind, or rain). If CLAM would fix the rainfly issue and make it smaller to transport there wouldn’t be anything wrong with this tent at all! LOVE IT!!!

Very impressive shelter…look forward to using this while camping.

I really didn’t want to buy this. I kept trying to talk myself out of it, but after watching several video demonstrations of how easy it was to put up and how cool it looked…I just couldn’t resist. We’ve used a 10 x 10 Coleman sun shelter for a few years now and it has worked well for us. It has built in LED lights, which are very cool, and I purchased the mosquito net walls that were made for it as well. We’ve used it for special events, yard sales, and camping. Although it has performed well over the years, it is a bit of a pain to set up (especially when adding the net walls around it), it’s very heavy, and it takes up a lot of packing space in the back of the truck. Now, I don’t plan to throw the ole’ Coleman away. I’m just going to reserve it for events at home and take this Clam on the road. This is unbelievably easy to set up. I can do it by myself and it takes less than a minute. It’s bigger than the Coleman, giving us a 12 x 12 area to relax in and it provides plenty of space for a table and chairs. It comes in an oversized bag which gives you plenty of room to pack it away. I really hate it when tents and other such things come in bags that are almost impossible to pack them back into. When in the bag, the Clam shelter is definitely longer than the Colman shelter but it has a slimmer profile and is much easier to lift and carry. The bag also has a shoulder sling and I can easily carry it over my shoulder with no problems. When setting it up the first time, I recommend paying close attention to some of the demonstration videos that can be seen online to avoid some of the problems that I’ve read about in other customer’s reviews. I’ve read that some mistakenly tried to put it up in a “wrong side out” fashion which resulted in some very confusing situations. I try to think of it like “planting a tree”. The shelter’s central “roof hub” is what rests on the ground while the majority of the tent fabric is up in the air. You just let it open up and blossom like flower in a sense. Then, you just walk to each wall and pop it out with the final step being to walk inside to lift the roof up. It really is quite simple. Now, I saw plenty of videos of people putting it up, but I couldn’t find anything about taking it down. I just did everything in reverse obviously and it also was very simple process. The shelter is fairly well made and you the company has put some extra features in to make it more durable. The eyelets that are used to pull the walls out are made of metal and there is extra fabric in the corners which protects those vulnerable areas from tearing. There is also an extra layer of fabric securing the area around the central hub for durability and increasing water resistance. The one thing that I did notice, however, is that the needle holes for the stitching are quite noticeable in the corners making these areas the most vulnerable for water. While the shelter doesn’t claim to be waterproof, I will certainly be adding some seam sealer to these areas in order to make it’s “resistance” a bit more effective. The shelter does come with small plastic stakes, but I plan on using some longer and more heavy duty galvanized tent stakes to provide extra security. Once the shelter is up, it’s quite lightweight enough for you and a helper to position it over a picnic table. I’ve set it up in the yard twice now (once to check it out and once to show a family member how cool it was) and we had no problem positioning it. I also purchased a set (3 panels in each set) of the privacy/wind walls developed by Clam specifically for this shelter as well. They also go on very easy and are great to have. I plan on setting it up one more time to add the seam sealer to the corners and then it will have it’s first run as we take it camping in a few weeks. This shelter will certainly help to reduce the amount of set up time and I am looking forward to using it.Update: 8/19/16 – Just got back from a week long camping trip and this Clam performed very well. We go to a family campground up in the mountains of North Carolina that accommodates both tent and RV campers. We stay in tents but everyone is always walking around and checking other campsites out. The Clam certainly got a lot of attention and I had at least three people (2 who travel in RVs) personally came up and asked questions about the shelter. The folks in the RVs usually sit and eat outside in the evenings and this particular shelter drew their attention because of how easy it is to set up and take down. I put some seam sealer on some of the areas that I had talked about previously in the review and it didn’t leak a drop during two light rains and one moderate one. I didn’t use the wind screens that I had purchased for it because it was still kind of warm up in the mountains and I didn’t want to trap extra heat inside. The plastic stakes that came with the shelter would of been useless in the hard ground where I was at. I was glad that I brought some extra galvanized stakes with me. The wind picked up right before one of the rains and it pushed two of the wall panels in. I ended up using some guy lines around the metal eyelets on the wall panels of the shelter and securing them down with some additional stakes. There were no problems after that. I was very pleased with the performance and it sure made set up and take down a little bit easier.

    Easy to put up.

This screen tent is great. It is incredibly easy to set up, and easy to put away, Perhaps you saw reviews that said their unit was assembled inside out. My guess is that they tried to assemble it upside down. That won’t work! What looks like the top when you take it out of the bad is actually the inside, not the outside. Follow the instructions, watch youtube, watch youtube again. It it takes you more than 5 minutes the first time you put it up, you are doing it incorrectly. It should only take you two minutes the second time, and less after that. This tent does have no-seeum rated netting, so it can get warm if there are only light breezes – but that is the price of keeping no-seeums out. Another advantage is that the walls bow out, so it seems roomier than the footprint. I have no regrets on this purchase, which is unusual these days Get one!

    Now, THIS is INSTANT Set-Up!

Now THIS is INSTANT Set-Up!I was able to set this up in ten minutes and it was FANTASTIC owing to the ease of use. Watch YouTube videos on its setup. They aren’t contrived, it really is that easy straight out of the bag. The unit is self contained and the only things extra are guylines and stakes which really should be used on shelters of this type if you don’t want it blowing away.I was shorted one guyline and will reach out to the manufacturer for a replacement. I received one extra stake. The stakes are the plastic type and I’ll be replacing them with metal stakes and also some sand stakes. And so, first impressions are very good.Given the design, I fully expect this to sway vigorously in strong winds which is fine by me because like a tent, it will bend with the wind rather than being ripped apart from the rigidity of the frame. *Really* well done design. The parts and materials are all very good quality. The zipper is very good quality and large. Any heavier of a material and it would have been too heavy and unwieldy for me. As it is, I can definitely handle this bag. Speaking of, the storage bag is a mid-to-light canvas. I’ll likely wrap the unit in something for travel, perhaps a light blanket. Speaking of travel, it will likely need to be secured on the roof because it is 6 feet long. I’ve not measured it out inside the SUV yet but I’m guessing it’s not going to fit. That said, if the length is what is preventing you from purchasing it, FIND A WAY to get it on your roof because it’s worth it.If you have read my other camping gear reviews you’ll know I’m only 5’3″. In order to be able to pull down the ceiling, I took the advice from a YouTube video and attached a sturdy strand of cloth to the ceiling hub before pushing it up. Glad I did because there was no way I would have been able to reach that sucker and so keep that in mind if you cannot comfortably reach 7 feet in the air. This unit is large. It is more than ample for me and my dog and will be able to fit many guests as well or a standard sized picnic table. What I wasn’t aware of before purchasing is that there are large grommets at the bottom of each of the corners where additional stakes can be set down.It looks like they thought of everything, their design team should be congratulated and I couldn’t be more pleased.I’ll update the review after its first flight next weekend and again at the end of the month on an extended stay on Assateague Island.2019-05-19 UpdateFigured I would give an update since it’s the season for purchasing for many.Everything I wrote in the above review still stands. I was able to fit this in my Chevy Equinox after all – and with a ton of other gear as well.In complete frankness, this is the best screened room I’ve ever seen.First use was over an extended weekend at a campground. It POURED the entire time. And because I had also purchased the matching window covers for this unit, my dog and I stayed completely dry from above and on all sides.I also had puchased the large, stowable grass mats for this. And those kept us from getting muddy on our feet. The trip itself was a cluster give the sudden and unexpected storms and I’m really thankful I had this shelter because the tent would have been a utter mess from mud.Cleanup is a breeze with a hose and a soft brush.I really can’t say enough good things about this shelter. Ive also set it up in the yard and it’s a great escape from skeeters and such.If I were to need to purchase another shelter, this is the only thing I will buy from here on out.

Excellent addition to our camping gear

The Quick-Set is extremely easy to set up and take down. We used it for a week in hot, wet Florida and it weathered the rain just fine. We had no leaks in any seams and no issues with collapse. We did place a fan inside because the fine screen mesh (a life saver to prevent bugs from getting in) makes it a little stuffy in the heat. Overall, I highly recommend and would purchase again!

We added an extra layer of repellent with a can of camp dry.Only downfall I can say is it’s pretty big in the carry bag and heavier than our old one but I would expect that since it’s better made .not flimsy.

    Great for Sports Events

I was originally looking for a rectangular canopy with wind shields for our soccer tournament at the end of February and ran across this Quick Set. I watched all the YouTube videos and thought it would be idea. because they made it look extremely easy to put up and take down. I’m glad I did because it worked awesome !It was easy to put up and take down, all the kids loved it and everyone that walked by it asked about it. They were amazed how easy it was to put up and take down as well. It worked great in the rain but would advise the following:1. Treat it with scotch guard first2. Buy a large plastic tarp for the bottom because everyone ended up putting their gear in their which kept the floor dry when it started to rain..3. Get the wind shields, it did great not only for the rain but for the cold winds.Pros:1. Easy to setup, easy to do it by yourself2. East to take down, easy to do it by yourself.3. Plenty of space for a family of 4 including a small table4. Worked great during the cold days (although, haven’t tested it during the summer)5. Worked great during the rain with the angled top; the water won’t collect like the rectangular canopies do and just sheet flows off.6. The quality seems top notch including the carrying bag and zippers but time will only tell.Only a couple of downsides:1. I bought this for just my family but it ended up being the team’s tent and was too small for all of them to fit including our table with the food on it but that’s actually a compliment.2. Because how easy it is to setup/take down, the Quick Set tent is already assembled and ready to be setup and/or collapsed. This makes it pretty long when closed but it’s probably similar to the 10×10 or 12×12 canopies when they are collapsed. I had to use the rectangular opening in my middle seat to get it to fit in my car (bmw 535) or prop it up on the rear seat of my LR4. So make sure you pay attention to the dimensions when it’s collapsed but it’s still worth it and if you have a truck, no problem at all.3. Because how tall it is when closed, not the easiest place to store in the garage but neither is a 10×10 or larger canopy. Just a heads up if you have a small garage like me which barely fits 2 cars in it.On that note, I would definitely buy again and recommend it to anyone that asks…although, I would probably buy the next size up for a team tent.UPDATE 10/20/2021:Still enjoying the Clam and it’s still holding up but need to warn you. I won’t use this during summer, due to the mesh sidewalls, wind flow is basically non-existent. You either need to get yourself a battery powered fan (or maybe 5 of them) like the one Milwaukee sells or don’t use. I ended up using a simple umbrella which is smaller and easier to pack.Since my daughters play soccer year around, I still use it during the colder parts of the year and think it’s still a great value.Glenn

    Very Happy!

One of the best products I’ve purchased! Very easy to set up( if you pay attention) affordable and we’ve used it 2 years worth of camping and still looks brand new. could not be happier with it!

    Awesome, but so heavy

This is a great product in every way, except that it’s very heavy and hard to lug anywhere. Don’t plan to carry this any distance from your car. One person can set it up, but it’s probably a lot easier with two.

    Great but…wind weak.

Easy to setup but not wind friendly. If a strong’ish top-down wind happens, it will collapse the tent down in the center.Otherwise great screened tent.

Watch the video and follow the instructions. It took us less than 1min to set this tent up the first time.

    Durable product

This is a great item to have. The only thing is, I am 5’5″ and can not pop the middle up by myself. Otherwise, I love it!

    Seems pretty solid

Overall this seems like a solid product. Instructions could be a little more clear (namely, the vertical door poles are inside the shelter, they’re not missing). Also, they sent 4 stakes and 3 tie out ropes. The manual says it comes with 7 stakes and 4 ropes. Not a big deal but at $200plus it should have the basics.

    Nice and easy!

We just used it for 7 days in Colorado. Easy set up and take down. We put it over the picnic table. It allowed us to keep that area cleaner and it provided for a game area at night. We also purchased the “walls” which came in handy when it got cooler and the wind picked up. This is not an item to forget to take on vacation!

I should have bought this sooner!!

Our camping game went to an entirely new level with the clam screen tent. Litterally sets up in minutes – and is not inside out like some posts. A few easy stakes in the ground and it’s solid. The screen got the full Colorado monsoon test for 3 days and worked well. The water streamed over the outside of the screen when coming straight down. When raining sideways however it did splash through a bit but it’s a screen tent and to be expected. Next purchase are the 3 pack of screen covers.

Great addition to our camping gear

This “tent” will accommodate four chairs and several side tables comfortably. It protects us from mosquitoes and no-see-ums and allows a nice breeze while keeping out the overhead sun. It really is easy to set up and put away, otherwise we would be less likely to use it. Well-made and sturdy, stakes down securely. We are well-pleased with our purchase.

    Good product

We are using this for our kitchen-living room area while camping. Very spacious. Love the built in panels; small windows & larger walls.

Everything – Well Made – Looks Great – Plenty of Shade – Easy To Setup and TakeDown

We loved our old tent – but the Clam is definitely a big improvement. The old tent only used fiberglass poles on all the corner poles and the arch at the top. Those fiberglass poles became brittle over a couple years and we found it impossible to find them online fully assembled as a replacement for the tent. However, there are plenty online that require re-cutting, gluing tips, and shoving elastic strings down the assembled group with barbed metal anchors inside the tube of the short poles. So – We did a lot of researching and you can tell this Clam company put a lot of thought into doing it all better – so much better. Even tying the stakes saved a lot of time and was easy to setup and take down. Gave it 5 stars.

    Easy up, easy down!

I was looking for a screen porch for our teardrop, and spotted this one. I checked the dimensions – bigger than what we had, weighed less than what we had, and watching the videos, the whole thing would be set up before we got the old poles out of the bag. My only concern was – could I get it to fit in the trailer?Well, it arrived this afternoon, and without bothering to read the instructions (hey, I watched a video on YT), I pulled it out of the bag, spread it out, and up it went! Teardown went just as smoothly, and it fit back in the bag without extra language.Nuts and bolts. The seams and stitching are impressive. Hook-loop tabs where they need to be, reinforcements where they should be to distribute the stresses, grab loops are “grab-able” instead of cheezy. My one ‘suggestion’ is to offer a version with two piece roof poles that would break down into a <4′ bundle. Due to the placement of my teardrop door, I can fit it in the box for travel. A 4′ teardrop with a 28″ door might not be able to get it in.Can’t wait to use it actually camping next week!

Setup is a Breeze for a Woman or a Man

I set it up the first time on my own in about a minute. We are able to fit 4 bar height chairs and square table inside. We love the Clam so much, this is our second. Our first is the smaller 7 ft Traveler that we use on our porch when the skeeters are at their worst.I also have 3 Clam walls to protect us from the sun, wind or rain. The Clam is water resistant. If you want the top to be waterproof I would treat it with a tent waterproofer/sealant.I’m considering spraying the top of both Clams with the Aerospace 303 Protectant to increase their longevity. You can’t go wrong purchasing one of these easy to set up and take down Clams. I purchased ours because my brother owns one size larger and takes it everywhere. They are campers and travel to Maine where the skeeters are the size of birds. We’ve had our newest Clanm up all summer but will take it down once the skeeters skidaddle due to the colder temps.

Great tent, rain proof, and the solid sides are a great option

We just bought this item. I received it the week before camping for the first time this year. Tried putting it up at home to make sure I knew how to do it. It is easy to erect and take down. Highly recommend watching the you tube video for as a guide for it. We had some mild winds at the campground–20-30 mph and it stayed standing for the most part. We did have the roof fall in a couple of times, but did not have the ropes out to the ground tightened good. Once that was corrected it stayed up. We even had over an 1″ of rain on it and I had our bikes, stroller, camping chairs and garbage can inside and all was perfectly dry, that was awesome. The solid sides are also an added bonus as we had family get together one night that was around 55 degrees with 20 mph winds and we used it as a place to set food and eat. It worked great for that. The video says it takes less than a minute to set up, it might be true if you had done it every day, but I would say set up is about 5-10 minutes and take down is around 10-15 minutes depending on weather. Everyone was impressed with it and the quality. I hope it last for many years to come, because it showed it’s value on this trip! One tip I would do: to make the ropes going down to the ground easier to adjust I went an bought some plastic spilt bolts and nuts. That made it a lot easier to keep the ropes tight going down to the ground and the next time I put it up it is going to be super easy to adjust the ropes.2nd Update: We have now used the tent multiple times.Positives: Awesome place to sit if it is raining outside as it is very weather proof. Keeps the bugs out and the screen is awesome, downside it also keeps the bugs inside once they get their!!(darn kids always opening the door and never shutting it) Great shade, the windows in the solid sides are awesome. The set up is second to none, it is flat out easy and take down is just as easy.Negatives: To roll up the solid sides you have to take the ropes loose from the ground, that stinks and makes changing from screens to solid a chore. We have had multiple storms with winds in excess of 30 mph and that does the collapse the tent roof, but it is as easy as opening the door and pushing the roof back up into place.Overall I would buy it again without hesitation as set up and take down is very important to me, along with keeping bugs out of course!!3rd Update: This tent has proven itself over and over again. We thoroughly enjoy it in the spring and the fall and use it as our garage at night to keep everything dry while we are camping from dew or rain. In the summer we raise the sides and enjoy bug free living outdoors. I have gotten pretty good at taking it down and putting it up, it is easy and convenient. We had over 3″ of rain the last camping trip and not a drop got inside the tent. We also had some strong winds of 30-40 mph and the tent held up beautifully. I sleep well inside the camper knowing I don’t have to be running around outside at night grabbing things that will blow away when the next weather event rolls in.
