    Great buy

This is a huge popup. It’s not as easy as some of the others to put up however it is much larger and very sturdy. I kept this up as a temporary cover on my back deck for the fall and it worked great.

    You Wont Be Disappointed.

Excellent product. I have purchased and lost 3 canopy in the Colorado winds and this one (canopy number 4) has performed exactly as expected. I would recommend purchasing the sandbags to hold down the corners instead of pounding stakes in the corner brackets. Highly recommended.

The best popup canopy that i’ve ever had.

I’ve had at least 4 or 5 pop-up canopies over the past decade. This is the best. We use it on a swimming pool patio (not in a business/ industrial use) and we love it. Nice job Coleman!!!

Need Two People to Set Up!

We love this canopy. It’s large, and with the extra tie downs it has survived some decent winds out at the campground. So far no complaints! Just make sure there’s at least two people to set it up. It’s big!!!

Easy for 2 people to erect this canopy.

We use this to cover the picnic table when we camp. My husband has back issues so it’s a plus we can handle this canopy so easily. Another plus is the larger footprint that provides more shade. I like it so well that I bought another one for my son.

    Well Built

Easy to assemble once you figure out a few things the instructions fall to elaborate upon. The pockets are reinforced with heavier material for added strength. Overall I would agree with an earlier review that the materials and design should last for along time.

    Heavy duty

The canopy is great love the overhang. If necessary 1 person can assemble. You have to make sure the 4 corners are in the corner pocket and pushed ip before the canopy will go up and lock. Great in some light wind . The frame is heavy duty and not cheap. Best canopy i ever owned and i use it every week

We use these for much needed shade in our yard for everything from family events to woodworking projects that extend beyond the garage. No trees around our house in CA. We tend to leave them up for several weeks at a time. Could not pass up the great price we received so we bought two. These are well designed units. Just plan on two people to open them up, which is what the instructions recommend. We’ve had this model before and we tend to leave it up for extended periods. We get about five seasons out of the cover. We have not found replacement covers. The frame never gets wet so it will last for years. They were delivered in two days. Thanks Amazon Prime.

    Coleman is the absolute best!

This shelter is worth every penny, and the price can’t be beat for the size. You cannot get better quality fabric on any easy up I’ve seen, which is why I have always purchased Coleman. It doesn’t rip like so many others out there and it truly is water proof. Not only that, but water will not pool on the canopy since the extensions off the frame angle the fabric down. Any water will run right off and you don’t have to worry about collapsing from water weight. The frame is very sturdy, which makes it quite heavy, so keep in mind that it does take a few people to put this thing up. It can be done with two, but it’s a breeze and much faster with 3 or 4. Make sure to install the vent correctly. It is huge, so it actually comes as it’s own separate piece of fabric. This shelter stays noticeably cooler than others because the heat escapes through the vent, and it helps tremendously with wind as well. We have yet to even see the fabric flap in the wind. The wheeled carrying bag is great, but quite large. The wheels are nice and sturdy and don’t break, and it’s really easy to get it back in the bag without driving yourself crazy trying to stuff it in. At first I thought 13×13 would be way too big, but I’m glad I went with this one and everyone I know with smaller ones always comment on how nice the size is. You will not be disappointed!PS…After reading some of the other reviews, I feel like I should mention that these canopies are not meant to stay up for weeks or months at a time. They are not designed to withstand high winds and heavy rainstorms on a daily basis. These are temporary shelters, not backyard gazebos. So, if you go into it with the understanding of what the product truly is, you will be very satisfied.

    Love this canopy!

Love this canopy! I bought mine because I was at a camp and we had 60 mile an hour winds. They had to take all the canopy tops off and even then, several were destroyed. The guy who had this tent didn’t even take his top off and it was just fine. The other good thing about this canopy is that I have put it up by myself and the top pulls taunt so that the rain cannot fill it like the other ones. I am buying my second one because some idiot stole what he thought was the whole canopy out of my shed but the joke is on him because the weights and the top were in my house! Now if my canopy wears out, I have another top to replace it.

Whoever designed this thing is a genius.

We liked the adjustable legs so that we could select the height we wanted it to be. It is sturdier than we expected and we were really impressed with it. We had a party on a summer day with a breeze of 15-20 mph and it was as stable as if the wind was calm. It was set up where we had the added advantage of tree shade, so I cannot say how it provided shade in the open sun. Additionally, we were able to disassemble it and pack it all into the bag for efficient and easy storage and transport. The title of this review are my husband’s word. He is really impressed.

Quite nice looking, spacious, easily movable, on the heavy side, lacking good corner reinforcement

My wife and I purchased this after looking at all the reviews for this and other canopies. We used this for a full week of camping in Tennessee this past summer. We found it to be quite nice looking, spacious, but a little on the heavy side. The heaviness may help with longevity however; we’ll see. It definitely takes two people to set up though (for those who might find themselves setting this up alone). My biggest concern is the corners of the canopy. They’re not heavily reinforced for some reason. I can see this causing problems in the future as the fabric undergoes more stress and elements. Nevertheless, we found it easily could be moved (with 2 people) over a full 6′ picnic table with plenty of room to spare, as well as our 4 person tent, to keep it from getting soaked by downpours. We’re happy with our purchase and would recommend this to others.

The BEST canopy I have ever bought.

I put this canopy on my deck in the spring of this year and it has been through heavy rain and wind with no problem. If you set them up properly they don’t break or go anywhere. These are great products.I can’t believe the negative reviews are connected to the product but must be because of one hell of a storm or not setting it up properly. I have used different canopies and they did not last, many holding water until it collapsed. This one holds up better than all of them and the rain just runs off. The extension is the answer. I am buying another.

    Quality canopy

This is an amazing easy to use canopy. I love the fact that I can set it up alone if need be and with a very active toddler sometimes one parent has to entertain while the other sets up. It is not water proof but it does repeal quite a bit. Its been thru many strong rain storms since i got it 2 months ago. Oh and one hail storm. Everything seems to be fine! Great product!

    Everything we hoped for

Welcome to a grandson’s soccer game in Texas. An umbrella just doesn’t cut it. So we ordered this (both of us 60 plus). Make no mistake, it is HEAVY. We instantly decided those itty bitty wheels were not going to roll smoothly over gravel parking lots and uneven (sometimes smooshy) fields. We were right. It does, however, travel just fine on top of our foldable wagon, so good to go. Initial set up was assisted by the whole family with not a lot of trouble. A bit of a breeze, so we made use of the anchor ropes. The pegs really weren’t up to the solid ground and we bent one. But ooooooooh wow. What a difference having a canopy made. We had the entire family under it comfortably. It came down so easily…folded right up and tucked into the case without a hitch. I love, love, love this canopy. Well designed, quality made, arrived quickly and let’s the grandparents survive the heat without risking their health.

    Coleman is awesome!

The canopy did the job for 13 months after which time, a fairly light wind proceeded to tear it to shreds from seam to seam. However, that’s when Coleman really stepped up and replaced the canopy 1 month after warranty expires. That was very impressive and unexpected. Great customer service! Here is what l learned about this product. It does a great job providing shade, the FRAME holds up very well but the canopy is not meant for long term exposure to the elements. I probably left it up for too long and the sun and elements caused it to deteriorate. Lesson learned. Put it away after use.Anyway good product, great company.

Love it!! I might buy a second one!

We’ve used this twice so far, and look forward to more outings with it!It is really easy to assemble, but the first time, it took us a few minutes of frustration to figure out what we were doing wrong. It was windy, and because the canopy is so big, it was difficult to hold everything down. It would fly up when we moved. Make sure you velcro the canopy to the frame before you start trying to move anything! Read the directions carefully. And be patient! It is a very large canopy, so make sure you have storage space, and a truck or larger trunk space to haul it.In June, we used this at the pool for my daughter’s birthday. We had a large table, two coolers, and about 10 chairs for the guests. My daughter sat in the middle on a beach blanket, and had room to open all her gifts. It was fairly windy, and we didn’t use the guy lines, but it held up without them!We went camping this week and after some tent leaking the first morning, we decided to move the canopy to cover the tent for the heavier storms expected the next night. It fit perfectly, and despite two solid hours of torrential down pour (I’m NOT exaggerating) the canopy stayed put and kept us mostly dry. If we had centered the canopy, we would have been completely dry, but I anticipated the rain coming in from the north-west, so we favored the left side of the tent and the right side was slightly exposed. The only downside was that we only had one canopy. We had to sacrifice our shady “kitchen” to protect the tent.

This is our second one, both still in use. My son uses them for a summer track and field club. They have been everywhere and survived ever type of weather. The older model we feel has a better very top section. It just is closer to the bottom section and let’s less dew and rain in. We will continue to buy this brand and model.

    Love this!

It’s so nice and big. I love the extra space provided by the extension of the canopy. The peak is nice toi. We’re having high winds so I put the canopy down as far as I could. I can still stand up inside and cook (I’m 5’7″).It does require at least 2, preferably 4 people to set up. It was a little tricky to push it up without issue.

    Awesome !

We’ve had several canopies, but this one is really one of the nicest. It’s very large, but SUPER easy to erect! I’ve put it up by myself several times with no problems whatsoever. The vent on the top helps to keep air circulating on hot days, and is a very nice feature. This canopy is a large 13×13 and easily fits a lot of people underneath it! All of our friends comment on how nice it is! My only complaint is that one of the pockets that the pole fits into has popped open – so we temporarily put a little duct tape over it and it’s fine for now! It will be easy for me to patch later, when I get around to doing it!

    Ease of assembly

I like it because of the ease of assembly. It’s also very sturdy and looks great. I don’t like it because I was looking for a replacement of the canopy top just in case In the future it needs replacing. I was very surprised that the cost of the replacement canopy top is over $300.00. It’s better for me to buy a new tent than just replace the canopy.

What I love: the overhang is great for extra coverage

I looked at a lot of reviews on canopies before purchasing this one and really wanted a bigger one with more coverage. What I love: the overhang is great for extra coverage, the vent on top helps with circulation and movement of the wind. High quality as far as canopies go. It is bigger so a bit more bulky, but case has wheels and a handle. You are always wise to have at least two people put us a canopy, some people complained that it was difficult to do alone, and it is. Super easy the more people that help. The other complaint on canopies in general is that they blow away, collapse and fade among other issues that all could be directly correlated to the fact that people were using them as a permanent patio fixture. The type of canopy is for day use and all of these issues would be a natural consequence of leaving up for long periods of time. I find the hardware on this canopy to be more heavy duty than other brands that I have owned and love it!

    Phenomenal for camping

I recently purchased this canopy and love it. Setup & breakdown were easy (once I read the instructions) and it performed very well during a heavy rainstorm — I kept the canopy on the lowest height setting, staked it down good, and setup my 5 person tent (10′ x 8′) entirely underneath the canopy with ample room for our gear next to the tent. The canopy kept everything so dry that we didn’t even have to use the tent’s rain fly and could enjoy the breeze. The canopy also kept the tent nice and cool after the storm finally broke and the sun came out blazing on the third and fourth days. All-in-all, good purchase… glad I bought it. Just be sure to stake it properly if you’re expecting wind… because it’s larger than the usual 8×8 or 10×10 ones you see, it catches more wind and WILL take off on windy days if not staked properly

Love the dimension! The vented roof makes a big difference and the eaves extend the shade footprint. Directions say 2-person setup. I tried doing it myself and made some progress, but for the last extension, I needed the 2nd person. At 100 degrees today, so glad to have this extra shade! I previewed the rating. It isn’t white. The larger part is a cream/taupe with the brown cap and eave ring.

    Love the design

I love the design of this canopy with the cut out in the middle on top because it allows air to escape, not only keeping you cooler under the shade but we have had several storms with high winds (65 mph) and the most damage it received was pulling up the stakes and moving over a couple of feet instead of collapsing (like our previous canopy that we only had up for 6 days and had 50 mph winds and it twisted and broke because there was too much force from the wind underneath and had nowhere to escape). I also like the extra shade from the extended eaves around the edges. I give it a thumbs up

All of these canopy type tents have good and bad reviews

Searched online and read tons of reviews for a tent I could use for craft shows as well as family gatherings. All of these canopy type tents have good and bad reviews. I’m thinking a lot of the bad reviews are from people who have experienced problems because they haven’t properly followed directions when using the tent. Finally decided on this one, and I’m very happy with it. Goes up easily, no problem getting everything back in the bag after use. Good quality. Love the storage bag on wheels for easy transport. Fair price. Got lots of comments on it at a recent craft show. The overhang is a good feature. Used Quik Shade Canopy Weights to hold it down in case of wind. We did have some wind and the tent held up great. Thinking of getting another set of weights just for some added security when it can’t be anchored to the ground. Haven’t used it in the rain yet. So far, very happy with this purchase.

Said there was a defect but it was no issue.

I purchased the same model about 2 years ago and it has been great. I bought this one even though the description indicated that it may have defect or missing parts. The box was fine and when I set it up everything worked fine the only thing that they may have been describing was a thread that lose along a seam.I may get another one if this what they consider defective.

    Handy trampoline shade

This is super. I guessed, and it worked out, that the diagonal legs were 14′ apart. With minor modification the shelter legs slid inside every other enclosure leg for my trampoline. Now I have a covered trampoline for hot summer sun and debris that used to accumulate. Worked great

My husband is a General Contractor and we usually purchase one of these a year as he uses them at his job sites. We love them because you can purchase a replacement sun cover vs. buying the frame and sun cover. I’m a small sized female and it can be a bit tricky to set up solo but it’s doable.

    Stonger, heavier, better.

The framework is much more solid than the cheaper pop-ups, and I really like the extra shade you get from the overhang while the base only requires a 10’x10′ area. Because it is heavier-duty it does take two people to set up and breakdown – and when packed up it is heavier to transport (but the case does have wheels). As for holding up in severe weather…use your common sense folks! While it is going to be more dependable than the cheaper options, it is still a portable, temporary structure. We have ours securely tied down on the second floor of a dock where it can get pretty gusty. No problems staying in place. But we take it down when we leave the lakehouse – and if severe weather is in the forecast.

This is a good product for the money with a good design. Set up very easily and everyone at our campsite enjoyed it. Looks like it will last proportionate to the amount of care you show it. Comes with a decent bag that it fits right into for storage. The extended eves really help block the sun even though they are slightly lower at the edge. — You may have to duck under them but they give added shelter.

    Great Beach Canopy – If. . .

Great canopy for the beach, if you prepare properly. Buy some long (I use 18″) screw in type metal stakes. Bring two, maybe three people with you to set up. And try to set it up in the AM before the high winds kick in. If you do all this, it is the best because of its size. 13′ x 13′ means you aren’t picking up your beach chairs every half hour to re-position them, and you have room for at least four people underneath (we have six with room to spare). It is SPF 50, so it helps prevent burns. Sturdy with a strong frame and yes, it is easy to set up. But word of advice here: practice setting it up before getting to the beach to avoid confusion.Picture taken in 2014 on North Topsail Island, NC.

    Great value pop-up tent

At 13’x13′, this tent has a larger footprint than the typical 9’x9′ or 10’x10′ tents. The wheeled carrying bag makes transport easier than other tents. It is slightly more complicated to assemble with the center vent piece and the arms that swing out at the corners, but after you’ve done it once it is really no big deal. It has lasted us 9 years so far, typically used at football tailgates and the occasional event at home. The part showing the most wear is the carrying bag.

    Light Weight and Durable!

This is our second one. The first lasted 5 years, and when it got hit by a HUGE wind this summer (it was possible to salvage it, and the parts are easily available but) we decided that we’d definitely gotten our money’s worth. In almost every condition the design is perfect. Love the overhanging eves that increase the overall footprint, love the poles that are straight up and down rather than slightly angled as in many other canopies, and LOVE the vent at the top – I think this is really one of the keys to wind resistance and riding out all but the most dramatic gusts. We go to pretty windy locations and don’t usually use weights or tie downs, the one big gust this summer blew over every single canopy on the beach and ours was much less mangled than the majority!!

The negative reviews are doing something wrong

I am an event manager for a large outdoor venue, I purchased 2 of these for various uses, shading in djs, displats, caricature artists etc… Have used it in heavy rain, extreme heat, wind and everything between. If you set them up properly they don’t break or go anywhere. These are great products. To the people saying it collapsed or ripped or whatever, The 2 I purchased have had over 200 days use and have now been in my possession for over 3 years. Not a single broken part, they have been taken down and put up many times, put in the bags, tossed around and more.Either the folks writing negative reviews got defects or they aren’t following directions. I have used hundreds of different canopies – even ones that claim to be PERMANENT canopies. This one holds up better than all of them.

    This thing is a beast

Decided to drop the extra coin and by the Coleman. It’s heavier than other pop ups but I got it out of the box and set up fairly quickly without needing any instructions. The canopy fit really tightly over the frame and I had to fiddle with it to get the last corner hooked onto the frame. I’m a tick concerned with the corner stitching on the canopy but it seemed like it should last as long as you don’t abuse it. comes with cinch cords attached at all four corners. I don’t usually cinch to the included ground stakes. I generally use the cords and bungees to secure at least two corners to the nearest trees. I like the red locks on the legs, it’s a step up from the old spring balls that always seem to catch some skin along the way. Like most canopies I doubt this is gonna hold up to serious wind and rain but they are not made for that kind of abuse anyways. I like how big it is though. Feels much larger than a 10×10. Worth it.

I love this tent so much I bought a second one. We enjoyed having both at the beach. I’m not sure what you can expect from a “canopy” that’s meant to be a canopy and stored when not in use. It’s wonderful when your using it for small a purpose and not a patio.

    Better than a pop-up!

We love this canopy. The extra foot of overhang helps keep us drier. Other pop-ups tend to let water pool at the bottom of the enclosure so you need to push up to evacuate the pool, a dousing experience. The vent at the top allows the canopy to breath so wind doesn’t tend to send your canopy airborne. It takes some practice to set it up, but once you get the hang of it it’s as simple as other pop-ups. It comes with good stakes and a tie down rope system that is better than any I’ve seen. The tie downs are cleverly connected to an adjustable sling rope that stabilizes the tie downs.

I was looking at camping accessories and came across this item on Amazon… it told me that I had purchased this in November of 2010! Unbelievable! It’s hard to believe, but yet, indeed, we’ve had it for almost ten years! We’ve used this everywhere… the beach, the mountains, camping, birthday parties, cookouts, baseball tournaments, etc etc and it still looks like new. If you take the time to read the directions and set it up correctly, it doesn’t rip or tear. It is large and requires more than one person to set it up (especially if your are short), but once it’s up, if you stake it to the ground properly, it should stay in place.

    Unmovable in the wind.

My last 2 pop ups got destroyed by wind gusts. I had this one up for the first time this weekend & we got some guests of wind along with rain. I watched someone else’s tent get flipped over & another flop & wobble, but mine never budged thanks to the top vent & the heavy stakes that come with it. It was easy to set up and is a nice size. It does, however, leak a little at the seams in the rain. I’m sure that can be fixed though by spraying some waterproofing sealant on it.

    BEST EVER

We went camping, very hot and not much shade, so we brought our own. After MUCH research and review reading this is what we purchased. Very easy to set up, follow the directions and you should have zero problems. 2 persons are better than 1 for this job but could be done with one and a bit of patience in the extension of the 4 legs. Just do a bit here then move to the next corner for a few inches of extension and repeat till fully extended but 2 minimum persons for raising the unit should be a must but could be accomplished by one following the suggestions above.I also purchased a screen room, not for this model but from thorough research the frame is the same on the 10 ft (roof) unit as the 13 ft unit which provides much better shade coverage and rain protection. Due to the fact that you have more available floorspace with the 13′ roof just because you can place tables etc a bit further back from the center. Will not be able to do this with the screen attached. Also the roof itself is a bit lower around the perimeter which helped keep the wind driven rains off of us! a big plus. Mr. is 6’2″ and had NO trouble at all coming and going. The screens will fit this unit, BUT, there will be a bit of a gap between the roof itself and the top of the screens. This is usually covered on the 10 ft model due to the fact that the 10 ft unit has a “skirt” of several inches that goes straight down the sides of the frame from the top, thus creating a gap free application. We are hoping this gives us years of sun protection and will definitely help keep the sun off of our coolers as well as us and gives a very cozy feeling. We also set up the small BBQ pit for breakfast toward the outer edge to allow for a very rainy am pot of coffee and breakfast with no problem with the roof being too near the heat thus suffering no damage at all.OK now for the guy line stakes, surprisingly a bit and I mean a bit more substantial than the included tent stakes of a recent Coleman tent purchase, these were useless. The thicker stakes for the legs were very good. However, as I said in my tent review, purchase the coleman tent stakes separately and use these for everything. They are inexpensive and will last a lifetime. One big gust of wind made us actually hold it down for a couple of minutes and from now on the Mr. WILL stake this down, AND use the guy lines for each use, rain forecasted or not. LOLNot that we tried this but the roof can be lowered about 3 ft, allowing for closer proximity to the ground and would most likely survive, intact, a gusty storm. My thoughts are that if storms are expected and you will be away from campsite or for overnight storms just lower the whole roof and it would not be nearly as susceptible to wind gusts and offer a bit more protection for whatever is stored under a bit better as well.We knowingly purchased screens anyway and are not sorry that we did. Even though we only gave them a test run to check for fit, the gap is nothing. After all you are camping and even if it fit snugly at the roofline bugs will get inside as we all get tired of constant zipping and usually let the screen doors flap anyway. When screens are attached there is a 1 1/2′ extension beyond the actual screening on all 4 sides that provide a great deal of extra coverage and rain protection and even supply enough cover for some supplies set just outside the 10′ frame perimeter. Where we camp it is a crapshoot as to whether we will be bothered by insects or not. If they are there and in biting mode they are relentless and painful so screens can be a necessity at times, but only a couple of times per year just impossible to predict when they will be in attack mode this is why we really wanted screens, for occasional use. The gap should be of no consequence with this unit.Without the screens, 4 adults with chairs, a 6 ft table, coolers underneath, 2 end tables, dog bed and bowls, and other misc. items would NOT feel cramped at all or trip over each other. With screens, all would still fit but not as much floor space making walking around each other and stuff a bit more like an obstacle course. As for other reviews as to its durability I foresee no issues as this is very well made but it is NOT for permanent use and the reviews on its durability that seem to be negative seems to have been due to applications where they were using this on an everyday semi-permanent basis. Just as one would not use a tent daily nor is this designed for that purpose. As an addition to your camp gear this cannot be beat. The whole thing went very smoothly back into a very well designed storage bag. Thank you coleman for a great storage bag; if only your tents had the same thought and care put into their storage bag designs. HINTUPDATEWe were lucky enough to go camping one last time this year and rain was a threat for much of the trip. It did rain some, a storm at night, we had discovered upon setting up this for the second time that there are 3 height settings for about a 1 ft. difference. the holes are about 6 inches apart and decided to lower this the night the storm was expected to lower its wind resistance. Mostly for peace of mind while sleeping. He did have to slightly duck his head to the side entering and exiting canopy area. So based on the forecast we set up the tent, then the canopy placing the canopy about 6″ over the tent entrance, YES we stayed dry going to and fro in the morning WONDERFUL! We will most likely use this set up permanently. Although the tent got some to a lot of excess water run off from the roof all was good.

    Coleman Evanston 6 Screened Tent

Also as noted on other reviews we thought we would need to purchase or invent some type of additional weights for the legs and found that my excess of girl stuff hanging from my pole-r-bear

    Umbrella Hook for Towels/Camera/Bags

umbrella hooks seemed to do the trick. The space required under canopy for the tent entrance was minimal and not terribly obstructive at all with 2 persons, gear, 6 ft. table chairs and a dog. However if 4 wanted to use the dry space it would have been crowded. Two full camping seasons and still going amazing. Would definitely purchase again and highly recommend.

This is an easy erect if you read the instruction label. Very sturdy, can be lowered to table level without taking down if the wind kicks up. Really sturdy frame, we have just bought our second because plastic joints were breaking after 6 seasons camping and at home partying. LOTS OF SHADE!

Used this on the beach for a week and it provided ample shade for 6 adults easily. I was concerned I might have purchased too large of a canopy until we actually used it. Perfect size for 4 or more adults. I recommend attaching the canopy to the frame before you actually use it and leaving it attached (we did) ; you DEFINITELY don’t want to do this when it’s windy. First day @ the beach, we set it up and it did fine until the wind got up to about 10 MPH. The enclosed stakes are worthless in the sand, wind pulled them up as fast as we could get them in the ground; probably OK on dirt. Fortunately I purchased the small sandbags along with it which wrap around the legs; once these were full and in place, no more problems with wind. You ABSOLUTELY need these when setting up on the beach! When we finished using it, it did go back in its case with a little manipulating. The canopy is UV treated so it provides a good degree of protection from the sun. One person might be able to set this up by themselves but its fairly simple and quick with 1 or more helpers. It is fairly heavy, weighing a shade over 50#, The case for it has wheels so it can be rolled but the wheels don’t work in sand! We loved using the canopy and have no reservations recommending it to groups of 4 or more. We will buy another just like it if/when this one wears out. That could take a while as this is a very well made and substantial canopy!

This canopy is crazy-cool. I must admit that it took much longer to erect than the lousy directions stated. However, after we put it up, we took it down and did it again so we could remember how to do it. The second time my husband and I put it up in under 10 minutes. We purchased this for a family beach trip next summer but use it in our backyard in the meantime. I wouldn’t leave it up all the time. Since we live in Texas and have ridiculous wind, it might not survive! I will post an update after we head to the coast with it in June, 2016. However, I made these notes after putting it up for the 2nd time which may help y’all!Beach Coleman Canopy1. Extend frame from 2 opposing corners.2. Put small top canopy on first3. Large canopy next. Do not velcro until fully up. Make sure corners are secured against black nylon for extra protection in order to not poke holes.4. Push top red button, pulling gently on outer frame as top joint goes up and clicks in place and outer pole extends down . DO NOT FORCE. Continue until all four corners of frame are up.5. Secure loosely all Velcro straps.6. Pull up legs to first button using red button, holding down with foot until clicks in place.7. Make sure silver ‘O’ rings for tie-downs are on outside corners not up under flap.

    Coleman 13 x 13 Instant Shelter

This is an attractive, well designed, very functional product: it has given us an extra room on a second-floor deck that would be unusable most of the day, if not for the excellent shade and chimney effect the Coleman 13 x 13 provides. Hanging pareos on the horizontal supports in the early mornings and late afternoons gives us more shade when the sun is low in the sky. Even though the tie-downs are attached to the deck railing, and work well, we cut off the feet and put the legs into weighted patio umbrella stands to give further stability in high winds in Port Aransas, on the Texas coast. We are delighted!Update – 8/20/12: The canopy is wonderful, but there are several wear-holes in each of its four corners, where the fabric touches the plastic fixtures at the top of each leg. There are reinforcing fabric circles above four other joint fixtures; Coleman should have added four more to protect the corners. We are off to buy duct tape to cover the tops of the offending fixtures, in hopes of preventing further friction damage.

Ok. This is an amazing tent. If you are on the fence about buying, go ahead and get it. You won’t regret it. Ours arrived in time for our first soccer tournament of the season. And as luck would have it, it poured all weekend.I can attest that the tent looks amazing (we had others coming to us with serious tent-envy).. And it’s definitely waterproof and sturdy. It’s was also roomy enough for a dozen or so adults and siblings to huddle during the storm. The vent provided a nice way to release the oncoming winds so the tent didn’t get lifted. The stakes were a much higher quality than the ones we got on our previous tent. I just brought a rubber mallet to use on the stakes and the tent stayed strong during the wind gusts. I noticed other tents starting to buckle and cave and get flipped over. But ours stayed steady. This is a great product! A+ review for me.

This is a good quality canopy that is easy to set up and tack down. I was able to put it up and take it down by myself with a little effort. I would recommend having two people to speed up the process. It is lightweight and could very easily be picked up in heavy winds. It does have tie down strings, that does add stability to allow you to use it on a windy day within reason. Overall great product for back yard BBQs as well and weekend camping trips because it is small storage space required.

    Coleman 13×13 Eaved Canopy Shelter

The replacement item I got arrived on time, and not damaged. To clarify, it appears the first one I received was used, and damaged. Amazon to the rescue! Filed a claim, and in 2 days I had a new one BEFORE I even got the old one back out in the mail. LOVE Amazon!Onto the product review. Awesome canopy! Use multiple times a week for various things, namely sports though. It is BIG! We put this over a set of bleachers at games, and it almost completely covers the bleachers fully. The overhang is nice, and the extra cap at the top helps redirect wind so the canopy is not a parachute. However, it’s still big and will catch wind on a windy day. Be sure to anchor it down properly! Tent weights alone will not keep this down on a windy day! I usually take some extra rope with me, and I have a couple of those dog leash ground anchors (the screw in type, 18 inches long), screw those into the ground and then anchor this to the top of the four legs directly on the frame. With this set up, we handled gusts of up to 30-40mph winds, and the canopy didn’t budge! I highly recommend removing the canopy before collapsing the frame. We quickly folded it up once with the canopy still velcro’d on, and one of the velcro straps got pinched in the arm and slightly ripped. At a minimum, at least remove the velcro straps around the bottom. The top mini-canopy can be difficult to put on if you are short, so just be aware. I’m about 5’6″ and have to stretch to reach it (yes, that’s with the canopy fully lowered). The bag that comes with this fit the frame, and the canopy easily. I have folded/rolled the canopy many different ways, and have yet to have a problem fitting it all in the bag. You do have to compact it, but they’ve also included an “expanding” zipper to making zipping it back up easier, and the bag has wheels on it to make it easy to tote around. I would recommend getting some real tent stakes, instead of the ones provided, as well as some canopy weights.Looking forward to many years of use out of this.

Great canopy! Easy to put up, and with a much greater area of coverage than most canopies. I use this for camping, so it’s up in inclement weather, and it did great – very secure. This is my first season with it, and so far, I’m very glad I sprung for this canopy.

    Tough and perfectly designed

I’ve had this canopy since 2015 and it’s been set up and taken down over a hundred times through beach visits, working in the rain on a truck, backyard BBQ’s and camping trips. I was heartbroken however when I ran it over by accident while repositioning my 1992 f250 4×4, at a camp site. The truck weighs 6200lbs wet, and it was loaded up with probably another 800 pounds of camping gear and firewood. We thought we’d be screwed without shade, however we were shocked to open the duffel and only one plastic piece was snapped (promptly “repaired” with duct tape) and one leg was bent, but not enough to prevent it from fully extending. It was our only shade all weekend long and it was everything we needed. That was over a year ago. 5/5 might go ahead and buy another just for later. I’m putting it away now and thought I should finally give thanks.

    keeps my work area cooler

I like the size this really helps keep my outside work area cooler. I really like that its open on the top I leave it up most of the time and noticed that the wind can go through so many others don’t have this feature. I made my own hold downs so it stays were I put it. I even added a mesh curtain to one side witch really helps with keeping the sun from coming in as the sun moves. I think other models have this feature but then the top is completely close, witch is not good if there’s a little wind. product is really well maid to. the handles that use to put up makes it easy and the instructions are easy to follow. I am a tall guy and this thing is tall so lots of head room.

Don’t hesitate, just buy this one.

After years of replacing canopies every 6 or 8 months I think we’ve found a winner. Legs on this unit are thicker and sturdier than any other I have used. Better than the EZ Ups and the other big names. Every connection is reinforced and seemingly much stronger and less prone to bending. Top fits snug and does not pool in rain. The 2 piece top is great for windy days. The comfort squeeze adjusters are high quality and very easy to use. The whole package is significantly better than anoy other in this category. This one will very likely be around for a while.

    exceeded my expectations

Loved the vented top..wind blows thru so tent did not blow away. 2 tents side by side on outdoor pavers was very classy for an odor gathering. i used the (8)US Weight Deluxe Eco-Canopy Weights with Carry Strap – 40 lb that i bought on amazon to anchor the tents during occasional wind gusts…worked very well. I would say that it is a least a 2 person job with 3 being very helpful. Not sure if it would withstand an Arizona summer but perfect for temporary shade

    I LOVE THIS CANOPY!

The extended eves on this canopy provide for extra sun and rain protection. I purchased one of these canopies several years ago. It seemed indestructible. I used it over many years. Just recently i relocated. A sibling of mine requested my Coleman Canopy. So, I was in need of another canopy. It has to a Coleman again due to past awesome durability, and functionality. I set this new Coleman canopy up on afternoon as I was going to need coverage for a grilling / smoking meats event. It started raining a couple hours after I set it up. It rained all night and the following day. I woke up to a dry area under the canopy, all my grilling, all my smoking equipment was dry, and remained dry all day as I was grilling and smoking. The vent at top of the canopy allows for any smoke that is under canopy to escape out of top vent. This canopy has four posts that can be staked down. But that is not it for canopy stability as this Coleman Canopy has four additional tie down ropes for extra stability. I LOVE this feature.

I’ve had this for a few weeks now, but used it only once.It was a bit confusing to setup the first time, with that funky little vented top unit. The canopy is perfect for our days at the beach

The first one got lost in shipping somehow. A replacement was sent immediately and arrived very fast. The canopy is perfect for our days at the beach. It looks sharper than most of the other canopies on the beach. Everyone seems to be using canopies like this instead of umbrellas and I see why.The first set-up was tricky because the instructions make it out like you just pull it open, put the canopy on top, fasten some velcro straps and BAM: instant shelter. After fighting with it for a little bit we were able to get it up and secured. It turns out you only have to pull it open, put the canopy on top, fasten some velcro straps and BAM. After the first set-up it’s super easy to set up again. It kind of just pops into place and even the strongest gusts of wind don’t budge it. It’s around 50 pounds or so which is good for windy days at the beach. The nails for the feet were enough to hold it in place without needing to connect the guy lines.Great product for a great price!

Should have bought this years ago. It is less expenseve than replacing cheaper canopies every year.

Purchased to replace another pop-up that died the second time it was used. It took about 10 minutes to set up by myself the first time it was used this included time to attach the canopy to the frame.. With help it came down in a couple minutes and packed nicely in its bag. The bag has an expandable section to help it fit which was closed once the main zipper closed. The fabric fits taught and has elastic in the pockets to help absorb load. The design does not collect water as many other canopies do. Using the supplied anchors in sand it stayed put with a 20 MPH wind.I regularly use two canopies and will buy another when my second canopy dies. I do not expect to have to buy another canopy afterwards. After several months of use I had to make a repair. The velcro tabs align with pinch points on the frame and are subject to tearing off. Fortunately I caught it before it caused any damage and was able to sew the tab back in place before anything ripped.

This coleman is definitely quality…. my wife and I put it together in our backyard in 5 minutes. The carry case included has a double zipper. This way once its fully together you can lower it WITH canvas still attached so when you get to the beach it goes right up fully velcroed and ready to just lock in place!! Its a little heavy at 50lbs…but carry case has WHEELS!The other photo is the weight bags sold separately that you can fill with sand or rocks ect..Florida summer sun is hot as @#$# and this pop up is UV resistant and a game changer to keep the long beach day wayyy better!

Great 13 x 13 canopy for the value

I received this canopy from Amazon a few weeks ago and am very pleased with it. The legs and foot base are very sturdy, plus the height of it after fully raised was a surprise as I have a 6’4″ son.I had read all the reviews before ordering and was somewhat reluctant about a few complaints of setting it up. Figured for the size & value I’m going to purchase one. First time setup was a little awkward as I’ve never set one up before. But after 1 time it’s rather easy if you have a couple of people to help. States on directions quick setup with 2 people and it can be once you’ve both done it before. For me the setup/time/people is nothing as this is being setup for family gatherings…..so there’s always a few adults to help.Bottom line great 13 x 13 canopy for the bang (value) had it set up for the 4th….no pun intended.

    No disappointments!

This product provides a big area of shade. Being able to set one side lower than the other even protects against a hot setting sun. Materials are all very sturdy. The canvas material did leak a minimal amount of water during a torrential downpour, but only a few drops right where the seam is. Since this canopy doesn’t have sides one wouldn’t be relying on it to keep you dry in a heavy storm like that anyway. Great product, easy to put up.

The 2 piece top is great for windy days. The comfort squeeze adjusters are high quality and very easy to use. The whole package is significantly better than anoy other in this category. This one will very likely be around for a while.

Great sized/quality tent for the value!

This tent is one of the most amazing ones on the market. This is our second one. Not super easy to set up on the front end if you don’t know what you’re doing but well worth the work!! You won’t regret buying this tent! And it’s super durable! Had it in high winds and it didn’t collapse or take off like others around us.

Sometimes Windy S. Florida- and it’s fine!!

Received in November, up for 6 weeks now. I did use the guide lines for extra tension, and the canopy has withstood 28 mph-30 mph winds.Light rain rolls right off, whereas heavy sustained will drip through: note this is not claiming to be waterproof. 🙂 I plan to spray with sealant which will improve the water resistance. If weather is forecast for 32 mph or more, will likely disassemble.Installation: very easy. Must have 2 people. Follow the directions- attach the little vent piece first, then the big canopy section, then expand out and up. Loving it! from Jupiter, Florida

Easy reliable shade for the campsite.

This canopy is awesome!!! I bought it to use while camping and have been extremely happy with it. It’s well built. Easy to assemble, and easy to use although I definitely recommend having two people to set up/tear down. I did waterproof mine upon initial set-up on our first camping trip, and it rained for several hours the second day into the trip. We had about 8 people playing cards at two picnic tables under this canopy and we all stayed dry. All the bad reviews from people trying to leave it up all summer should be deleted. That’s dumb. That’s not what it was designed for. Could a strong storm destroy it? I’m sure it could. But if you have half a brain and use this as it was intended, I’m sure it will provide several years of service.

    Must buy….best $130 bucks you’ll spend!

Vent keeps things cool, excellent shade, stands straight up

I’ve had the easy up, but this instant canopy is much nicer. It takes about 5-10 minutes to setup, and the best part is the middle raised canopy which let’s heat out. At the fairgrounds we had the coolest (temperature-wise) tent there because it vents out the heat. The next best feature is that the legs stand strain up and don’t lean out. This is especially important to reduce tripping and so your neighbors don’t get upset that your tent is in their way. ITS very sturdy, but I did see some fringe hanging off of the canopy. We cut that off and it is amazing. Take down was even easier than putting it up. I might buy a second one.

Love love love everything about them

We love our Coleman Pop Ups!We had one originally that we left out on our deck year round. Here in the Pacific Northwest that can be tricky due to rain fall and tree fall from wind storms. For the most part these hold up very well to winds because of the large vent on top.Rain does NOT puddle on top like others we had in the past… But alas, they are not indestructible. Not when a 20ft 300lb fir branch comes crashing down on it… Actually we were able to save the frame and kept it… We then immediately bought another one….Then they came out in Blue so we bought another…. And recently we discovered that Coleman sells just the canvas top replacement. Now we can have 3 of them. I like to keep my shade plants under them in the summer.I can do that and still have room for 4 patio chairs, a glider and a train cart turned coffee table under one, dining set and plants under another, and a third that we take with us to outdoor events or camping. They are extremely quick and easy to put up with two people and fairly easy and nearly as quick with one person…You cannot get a better Sun/rain structure for the price.

    Love this Coleman canopy!

Beach Day Gamechanger – Buy It!

Couldn’t be happier with this. Yes, it’s a little heavy to get out onto the sand, and probably not worth the hassle for a quick beach visit… but if you’re going for the day, it’s like having a house on the beach! I can’t stand sitting in direct sun and baking during mid day peak summer and always refused to go to the beach (preferring early morning or sunset when it’s cooler), and have been subsequently vilified by wife kids and friends. This got me out there… easily sits 6 or more adults, sleeping kids, coolers, and complete shade. No joke, every time we go to the beach people walk by and say “that thing is AWESOME – where did you get it?”After about 10 uses so far, all is well. Nothing broken, everything working well, good as new. Excellent shade. Very rugged, and it has stood rock solid on very windy days out on eastern long island. Unless very windy, stakes and tie downs really aren’t needed – nor all the velcro straps that attach to the roof frame. The fewer things you attach for a single use beach day, the fewer steps to take it down. The ONLY complaint – ONLY – is that for beach use, the telescoping legs become absolutely locked once the tiniest bit of sand gets in there. Like, a single grain of sand. Absolute locked, as if glued together. There’s a slight learning curve to getting this thing set up and taken down. Thoughts and pro tips as follow:- BRING A HAMMER. Non-negotiable. Not a rock, not a beach toy, not driftwood – a metal hammer. Why? To get the legs telescoped in/out, and to bang tie down spikes into the ground.- Set the frame on its side first (after 1st use on beach telescoping legs will already have sand infiltration and not slide easily if at all). Use hammer to bang against the steel feet to get them telescoped out. I threw MASSIVE sweaty tantrums in noon sun the 2nd and 3rd use before bringing the hammer, because the legs would’nt extend out – again the smallest amount of sand binds them.- Ignore instructions and get all 4 legs into the 1st/lowest positioning before setting upright – otherwise you’ll lose your mind, think it’s broken, and give up.- DO NOT accordion out the frame out all the way. Only go 1/3 to 1/2 the diameter. Why? Easier to get the canopy on.- After draping the main canopy over the frame, DON’t FORGET to get the little roof vent on the top poles.- NOW grab a helper, stand diagonally on opposite corners and pull it open fully.- ***MAJOR*** pro tip. @ about 75% open, reach up at corners and PULL DOWN at the very end of the top where the canopy sleeve to snap/lock the top members straight overhead. Yes you need to push up from the inside, but the pull down method from the outside corner is epic.- Safety tip: watch your hands!!! With any telescoping part, it’s easy to get hands pinched especially with jerky movements. We learned the hard way.- Sunset/late day tip: When the sun gets low (we have sunset-facing beaches), you can lower the legs on one side to angle the whole thing. This all sounds harder than it is. I had it down to a science after the 3rd use. 3-4 mins realistic setup time, and though cumbersome, I’ve done it myself while family was in rebellion. If you were assembling this indoors without sand, follow the instructions. On the beach, trust me, this is a proven way. Don’t forget the hammer. Enjoy and godspeed!

Exactly what we needed, fits perfectly out deck

Exactly what we needed to give shade and rain protection to the sitting area with outdoor furniture on our deck. really good thing that the canopy has overhang about a foot from the legs which allows us to place it just the way that rain water drains out of our deck on two sides. I would give it 5 starts if it would be possible to buy replacement fabric canopy, which I’m pretty sure will not last very long when we keep it whole summer season out on the direct sun the construction is sturdy and it will likely last years of use. Fabric lasted the whole first season this summer, it shows signs of color fading but it holds well so far even through couple of storms. We bout it on sale which was a good price i would pay 1/3 of the price for the replacement canopi so we do not have to buy the whole thing again and throw away the useless frame once the fabric tears after being exposed to elements. Coleman should be more environmentally friendly and sell spare parts that will not last if product is extensively used

    Really nice canopy.

Very pleased with this product. It was easy to set up – once I figured out how the small cap attaches. The poles lock into place with an easy to use mechanism. And it folds back down and fits well in the carrying case. The color is as shown – the extra reach (beyond the pole footprint – makes a nice sized shelter from the sun. Hoping it stands up to rain, as well.

“Permanent cover” for our back patio

Our family lives in a rented house with a back patio that is uncovered. We also have two little ones who are always outside. This canopy is perfect for us! It has an overhang to allow rain to flow off rather than pool and strain the material. It has withstood three major storms with 40mph winds, and has also lasted all summer despite temps in the 100’s without cracking or becoming brittle. Because we use a canopy as a “permanent” cover, we wanted something durable and this fits the bill perfectly!

    So glad I got this

I’ve been researching canopies for a couple of years. I was always hesitant to take the plunge and commit to one. Costco had this one in store and it looked great in person. I still waited, and was glad I did as Amazon had it as their deal of the day for a cheaper price. I adore this canopy! Great quality and seems to be very sturdy. It’s a little tricky to put up if you’re on your own, you really need 2 people. We had it up last weekend with wind gusts of close to 40 mph and it held. I haven’t let it stay out in the rain, so I can’t comment on it’s durability there. It’s a great size, and I plan to use it a lot this summer. I’ll update to it’s long term durability after a few months of use.

Colman 13X13 Canopy – Thumbs Up

The Colman 13X13 Canopy is the best one we’ve ever owned. We have two now, and the older one continues to work well for us. The additional overhang from the posts is a big plus. It is effortless to assemble. It is an ideal two-person setup. However, I have set it up myself with minimal difficulty.

This is such a great canopy. We are currently in our monsoon season in Tucson and with all the wind my canopy still is standing. There is a small opening of the top that has another cover to it that allows some of the wind to go through which I think is partly why it hasn’t just lift it up and flew away. It’s over our small pool and there is artificial grass underneath so we are not using the spikes it was only tied down to the actual pool. It’s holding up really well and it’s a very nice canopy and a great buy. Would very much so recommend this

Cheap cover and finally replacement fabrics are available

I do not like the pagoda top, it makes assembly difficult but everyone has that now. Garden Winds has finally published a replacement for the fabric, since this is usually the first part to fail. I do not use the mounting hardware, I have stainless steel 4 inch lag bolts to hold the frame to my deck. A couple years ago I had what seemed like an F1 tornado hit the canopy, the fabric did not survive but the frame did, but Coleman’s replacement canopies did not always fit.

I’m using it far beyond what it’s intended for and it’s AWESOME

Why the 5 stars… it’s ripped?I bought this tent to use for what it wasn’t intended for. I live in SW Florida and let me tell you, it’s hot and miserable here a lot of the time of year. I use this to cover my outside cooking area. Sure it’s faded and ripped a little but let me tell you, this one has held up best. I’ve had A LOT of other tents and this one is by far the best. We’ve had several big storms go through and this has held up well. It even went over the house a couple times (no, I didn’t anchor it). It’s held it’s shape and still does the job keeping me dry when I cook. It’s not made to be left up all the time (I’ve kept it up since I got it February). I will gladly get another one when this one finally falls apart. I love the top that allows the smoke from my grill to escape. Again, I’m using it for what it wasn’t intended for and it’s by far the best!

Works great to keep everyone dry. Do not use when windy!

We are the heroes of our son’s football and baseball teams. He plays sports year-round and we thought this would work well in the spring/fall/winter months. It surely does! The other parents on our teams have been SO grateful for this shelter. It is HUGE, but it works very well to keep everyone dry. Doesn’t do well at all in wind, of course. Super easy setup and take down. Could possibly be done with one person, but very easy (like 5-8 minutes) with two people.

Does exactly what it claims to do, in style

This is my favorite canopy system I’ve ever used. As someone who has a history of regular soccer tournaments and camping trips, my family has used these since they first started out, and have gone through 4 over the last 10 years. They have come a long way since the flimsy, thumb killing, wind catchers of a decade past, and this one proves it.I purchased this specifically for a camping trip to sheild us from the rain and sun while we ate and played board games. I was absolutely thrilled with its performance. The structure is incredibly beefy and sturdy, the release mechanisms can literally be operated by my 4 year old, and the size is HUGE. It covered the entire concrete picnic table at our site and still left a ton of room to walk around while still being protected from the rain. The overhang is awesome, increasing the coverage without increasing the footprint, and the stakes and line provided to secure it made the 5-10 mpg winds at night a non-factor.It does leak at the seams a little. Just a few drops here and there. But it doesn’t claim to be waterproof. You’ve got to tarp it if you want a complete rain shelter. Even so, the tiny drips were only at the edges, and it kept us very dry during the worst of the rain.I will also say that setup of this canopy has to be done carefully. The way the overhang works is brilliant, because it tensions the entire thing, but to do so, you’ve got to pull pretty hard, and if you do it wrong, I imagine you could manage to bend or break it due to the force involved.A lot of reviews on here complain about failure in the wind and rain. But the instructions very clearly say it’s not waterproof, so small drips from seams are normal. As far as wind, you have to stake down any canopy on all 8 anchor points. This one is no different. I wouldn’t recommend it at the beach unless you’ve got some really solid ground to drive them into. You’re literally setting up a sail. It’s gonna fly away if you can’t secure it.I don’t even consider those negatives though, just user warnings. This canopy is absolutely great, and the best bang for your buck for its size by far. It works with the other Coleman screen attachments, and it just feels STURDY. It deserves all 5 of these stars.Buy it, follow the set up instructions, and know its limitations, and you’ll be very pleased with your purchace.

Never had one of these when I went camping, always did the small things that the wind would take in a second. This thing is bigger than expected. The fact that it is 3′ larger than the standard camp based overhead shelter can’t be over stated. The additional size made it a no brainer to cook and eat at a a 6′ picnic table with gear around the edges that still remained dry in a quick down pour in the mountains. There are heavier 7″ metal spikes to put in the legs for additional stability and that is an bonus. Seems well constructed and with some finesse I set it up by myself in about 15 minutes.

Worth it.

This is an easy erect if you read the instruction label. Very sturdy, can be lowered to table level without taking down if the wind kicks up. Really sturdy frame, we have just bought our second because plastic joints were breaking after 6 seasons camping and at home partying. It was always stored in our travel trailer in MA so went through a few winters of freeze thaw cycles. this pop up is worth the money

Prefer Coleman pop-ups for temporary shelter

No pop-up is wind or storm proof but i have found coleman to be above average for stability. Really like the straight legs with handle grips for opening on this with the extra extension overhang. Also, with these models i leaver the cover on after the first set up it fits (tightly) in the carry bag. Subsequent use is as easy as pull it out and pop it up.

This shade tarp is so sturdy compared to ones we’ve owned before. We bought it for our annual July 4 party and we really love it. It’s roomy and attractive. Easy to put up. The folks that complained about the fabric ripping may not have placed the reinforced areas against the metal structure. This item is not meant to be a permanent structure. For a party or occasional shelter, it’s perfect.

    Great canopy for backyard/patio

Using this in our backyard for outdoor entertaining…because…COVID. Requires at least 2, maybe 3 people to assemble because it’s quite large. Once it’s up, it’s great. We’ve just left it up, I can’t imagine taking it down and having to re-assemble every time you want to use it. As of now, with COVID, we plan to leave it up indefinitely. Provides coverage from sun and hopefully, rain when it starts to rain here. The only downside is that I can’t find any walls that fit this size canopy. We bought weights (that you fill with water) for each leg which helps hold it down in windier weather.

    Much more area protection

Now I have two of these. Most campgrounds that I go to have 8 foot tables and the 13 x 13 awning does a much better job for both sun and rain protection. It provides 169 square feet of coverage as compared to 100 square feet for a common 10×10 awning.

This is the best pop-up canopy we have purchased. I know you’re not supposed to leave them up all week, but we do sometimes. This one doesn’t pool water when it rains and the frame is much more stable. I like the vent at the top and the canopy is larger than the frame.

    Great beach canopy

This canopy was excellent for a week-long beach trip. I collapsed it and took off the canopy each night, and had zero problems with it. It provides enough space for pack-n-plays, chairs, coolers, etc. We love this canopy. If you don’t take care of it and are extremely rough with it, you can definitely tear it up. I would advise at least 2 people to set it up or take it down, however, it is pretty easy to do so. Make sure you use the anchor lines! I saw quite a few canopies destroyed during our trip that could have been avoided by simply anchoring the canopy correctly. I use 4 plastic beach umbrella screw-type anchors and also nylon beach sandbags on the legs, for ease of use. We have used it a few times and it has paid for itself by keeping our family from being “overly-sunned”.

    Works great for our patio

We use this on our concrete patio over over patio furniture when company is here to keep the sun off. My husband and I can put it up or take it down relatively fast. We have taken it to friend’s houses when they have invited us for summer parties and putting it on the grass we have never had to stake it down. Might be a difference in high winds, though.

    Kept us nice and cool.

I bought this to use on my deck (which I haven’t done yet), but took it to a family picnic this summer. It was a 90 degree day with a little breeze. Sitting under the canopy was a pleasure. The breeze kept us cool, and canopy blocked the sun.Everyone wanted to cool off under it. I did find it a little heavy for one person to carry and/or set up, but it is well made and much sturdier than others I have used. Setting up and taking down is best accomplished by two people. Only used it once and had no problems.

This canopy is amazing! I bought it in conjunction with a Standing Room Tent for camping. We’ve used it on 2 trips already, both of which were at high altitudes during the late rainy summer here in the Colorado Rockies, and this thing preformed outstandingly! Not only did our whole tent set-up and tear down in less then 10 mins., but when we had several days of hour+ long thunderstorms, this thing kept our tent walls and floor absolutely dry! We have a smaller tent for our 2 oldest kids and I’m now ready to throw that out and get another combination of these! Also have recommended it to several family members, some of whom were camping with us since we bought, and they’re ready to purchase also! Thanks Coleman! Keep up the good work!

Unlike similar products I have purchased in the past this one folds back into it’s carrying case easily. The wheels are a nice feature as well. I would highly recommend this product

I’ve had this canopy for TEN YEARS!

    Nice, large shade profile

Big profile, a tad heavy. When awning on our tent trailer rotted away — this seemed a better option. I purchased via Warehouse Deals for a price break, I could care less about the packaging. EASY to set up — just be wary that unit is big and heavier than most, but you get more shade out of the deal, which is what I wanted for camping and covering the table at State Park sites. I did not think the top vent would do much, but actually, I have yet had to stake the unit down — vents fine in a breeze. In any sort of measureable wind, yeah, better stake it down — it WILL catch a good wind and end up in the next county given its size.

using it for music festivals 10×10 leg base and 13×13 top is awesome. I didn’t realize the first year I had it not all the way up. I thought it was odd that I had to bend over to get under it. then next year I noticed an extra notch so it’s up high. A few windy nights and the canopy still stands using the supplied strings to anchor. I also took it camping in the summer in NC. It was so hot and the canopy helped along with a fan blowing. I also used a mister to hang from the frame, that was like a/c. just check the small nuts/bolts , some get loose and may fall out after a while.

it was great! It easily fit a standard picnic table underneath …

Tried it out for the first time on a camping trip a couple weeks ago. Thank god the case has wheels because this thing is heavy! It’s also definitely at least a two-person job to set up. We also struggled to get the little top vent piece on because it was so tight. Once we got it all together and set up, though, it was great! It easily fit a standard picnic table underneath with lots of room to spare, plus plenty of headroom. Luckily we did not encounter torrential rains or wind (which have ripped apart cheaper canopies in the past), but I think this one is probably sturdy enough to do better than most.

    13×13 popup that works well

larger than normal popup that has great shade coverage. in addition (and the reason i went with this model after having many of the conventional popups from a variety of manufacturers is that this unit has “eaves” that draw the covering tight on the frame eliminating billowing by the wind, and allowing rain for run off all sides as opposed to collecting in pockets formed when the top cover droops over the frame on the insides when it rains. not the easiest unit to transport based in it’s size in the case compared to standard 12×12 units, but it is worth the extra size for the better functionality in my opinion. so far it lasted almost a complete college football tailgating season (it was purchased when my long standing 12×12 finally gave up after about 6 seasons, in a hard rain storm.) and still looks brand new after being used in the south florida sunshine and rain storms.

So far I love this canopy. It was fairly easy to put up n I love the size. It came on time and has a nice look to it. I have read though that after some time of use that the sides wear out. Unfortunately I didn’t order it in time for the camping season. We only put it up at home to check it out. I won’t know if those statements are true till next year so only time will tell. This canopy does go up fairly easy. Very similar to any easy up. The only difference was the roof which was not a problem at all. We only put it up one time. This is all I can say for now.

Well designed. Durable. Big. Comfortable. Easy to use.

Update May 2021: After two years and only a dozen uses or so, the canopy succumbed to an overnight beach storm. I had it very well secured, but with sandbags foolishly only on the ocean facing legs. I think a storm came from the back side and must have yanked the whole back half out of the sand and crumpled it all into a sad pile of sheared aluminum and torn fabric. Sad trombone. I still maintain that it’s a high quality unit, and it’s tough to find one with the size and features, so I just bought another one. That’s a solid endorsement, right?—–Man, this is the canopy to get. I almost purchased another one that seemed much more lightweight, which I thought was a good thing. Fortunately for me, that other item ended up being out of stock, so I chose this one for our upcoming beach trip.It comes in a great bag, with thick material, expandable zippers, multiple handles, and rolling wheels. I easily managed the package myself and got it into the truck, but it is heavy. When we got to the beach, it was windy. As beaches often are. 10-20mph breeze constantly throughout the trip. The first time, it took two of us about 20 minutes to get the canopy set up. Most of that was spent securing the legs and stakes because of the aforementioned wind. It was easy enough to get the frame expanded, the canopy tops installed, and the whole thing lifted to an appropriate height. We had a second canopy with us that a friend brought. Much lighter and quicker to get up, but just not nearly as robust in every way.At the end of the day, we decided to disassemble the cheaper canopy, but we left this Coleman up overnight. It was a holiday weekend, and the beach was super crowded, so we opted to leave it up unattended to save our spot for the morning. Quite the risk when you see the beach dumpsters littered with broken folding canopy skeletons each day.Well, when we returned the next morning, the wind was still blowing, but the canopy stood tall, without any evidence of its overnight ordeal. The tide had come up over the feet at night, but it held fast. I attribute that to the long straight stakes that are included specifically to secure the feet of the frame to the ground. I also bought some reusable velcro sandbags that I wrapped around the canopy legs as well. That served to hold the whole thing down securely. Oh, and I got some beefier screw type stakes for the guy lines. So yeah. That thing didn’t move an inch. You might wonder what 24+ hours of flexing and flapping in a strong breeze might do to the canvas top. We’ll, I can report that it did nothing. The top is reinforced everywhere that it touches and rubs on the frame. The lines are attached securely through a metal ring, which not only eases the pressure at the attachment points, but serves as a handy place to hang a small flashlight or rubber mallet. The frame itself is thick, heavy plastic. So, no concerns for rust or corrosion. Though, if I had one critique, it would be in the design of the fasteners that extend the legs up and down. You squeeze to release and then they pop into a hole when you let go. I suspect there’s a metal spring in there, which I worry about with saltwater exposure. But also, it’s easy to get sand in the mechanism, which then prevents the button from popping out and locking into place. I had to flush them out once or twice to adjust, and I just wonder about longevity with that design. But yeah, with plastic everywhere else and aluminum rivets at the accordion joints, I expect the frame to generally last through many trips.Sun protection was excellent, without being totally opaque and dark beneath it. And I think the vented top helps not only with the heat but also with the airflow and probably the stability in the wind. Then, when we reached the end of our trip, this canopy was easy to take down and pack back up into its rolling carrying case. I later took it out, washing everything with fresh water, and packed it all back up by myself. It was especially nice to have that case that really only fits everything nicely once from the factory. It has plenty of room for everything, even if you’re lazy about folding the canopy top and you just stuff it all in there, extra stakes and sandbags and all.All in all, you might have guessed that I’m very pleased with this purchase. I won’t use it often, so the next test will be to see how it holds up in storage. Will report back if there are problems down the road at all.

Never had one of these when I went camping, …

Never had one of these when I went camping, always did the small things that the wind would take in a second. This thing is bigger than expected. The fact that it is 3′ larger than the standard camp based overhead shelter can’t be over stated. The additional size made it a no brainer to cook and eat at a a 6′ picnic table with gear around the edges that still remained dry in a quick down pour in the mountains. There are heavier 7″ metal spikes to put in the legs for additional stability and that is an bonus. Seems well constructed and with some finesse I set it up by myself in about 15 minutes.

Very good canopy. Best I’ve ever used.

A few reviews on this that I read stated that this will turn yellow in the sun after some use. The product paperwork actually states that this is normal if left in the sun for extended periods of time. What that means is that this is not your new gazebo. Oddly, the paperwork also says that.Basically, if you are looking for a low cost permanent structure then you are looking in the wrong place. This is just an easy-up style canopy. Now, comparing it to every other easy-up I’ve used this thing is amazing. Let’s start with the considerations (not cons):Considerations:This is heavier than most canopy shelters. The corners come out really easy and are a bit tricky to keep in their canvas pockets. It takes some effort to get it back in the bag.Pros:3 feet wider than most canopy’s.Better latches than any canopy I’ve ever seen. Uses large push-button latches in all 8 positions.Thicker legs than any canopy I’ve seen.Comes with heavy duty tent stakes for the feet and regular ones for the tethers. So far I have only used the heavy ones.Takes about 1 minute to setup with 2 people. About 30 seconds with 4.Takes about 1 minute to take down with 2 people. You really don’t need more than 2 people to take it down.Very tall when at full height.Because of the roof vent and the tapered sides it is a bit cooler under this than other canopy’s I’ve used. I think that it allows heat to rise out of it and prevents heat from building up under it.Pretty good in light winds. Nothing is good in strong winds. But, stake it down for light winds.Overall I love this thing. Every time I have put it up I get lots of questions about where I got it, how much I paid for it, etc. My in-laws have asked us multiple times to bring it to this years family reunion (I guess they think we will forget or something).

Well made and sturdy, well worth every penny

This Canopy / Quick shade is by far much better made than others I have purchase and I have been using these types of structures for over 40 years 30 of which we used on many champing trips. This in itself somewhat qualifies me as fairly experienced user of these. Although It was the 1st time I used this particular canopy it still stands up to one of the best made. However I would have given this item 5 stars had the instructions been a bit more detailed, because this one had a couple different features than I have seen before. For me with a fair amount of experience was able to work through it. But for the not so experienced or new to setting these up would definitely be beneficial. I also suggest that if you buy one of these and you plan on taking it with you on a camping trip or wherever that you do a dry run in your own yard first. But all in all I highly recommend purchasing this.. and at 139.00 that I paid for mine was on sale from 159.00 even at that price its well worth it and then some. Steve from NY

Outstanding product. After researching shelters( 12′ x 12′) by (1) going to stores (2) looking online and (3) reading a lot of online reviews for different manufacturers, I decided on the Coleman 13’x 13′. Once delivered (with Amazon Prime no problem) I found it was difficult to set up, as other people’s reviews have stated. And it did take two of us to set up. It took two of us to set it up every time, every set up. I can take it down and pack it by myself though. Some people have stated in reviews that they have had trouble with the 12″ extensions. I have not not found that. Living in Upstate NY, I have found no problems with rain or wind. It was very stable. I didn’t have it set up in extreme winds though, but maybe 15-25 mph gusts. I also didn’t leave it up all summer as some people have. Usually for 2-5 days at time. Looking forward to using it this year.

The enclosure arrived quickly and was sturdier than I expected for the price. It covers a large area with good clearance. I had expected the eaves to be optional and secured only by the tie downs. Instead the eaves are structurally supported by ribs at the corners. I had to modify my installation plans to accommodate that but it is working fine.

    Great canopy; great price!

I have set it up one time so far, and I was glad I had help. The cover was pretty tight and getting the last corner stretched was much easier with a couple people stabilizing the other corners. The additional webbing strap reinforcements in the corners did not “land” over the end of the rafter poles, so those had to be detensioned, positioned and then retensioned, but that was not a huge deal. You’ll want to make sure those are in place to avoid ripping out the corner pockets of the cover over time. We had it up for about 16 hours during a sunny day with a moderate breeze gusting to about 15 mph maybe. No stakes or weights necessary in those conditions. I am waiting to see how it does in the rain as the last pop-up we had from another mfg held water and collapsed. I’m thinking the design of this one with the tension being distributed to the 4 corners will keep that from happening, but I will NOT leave it unattended even briefly in the rain to find out. Very pleased so far. Great canopy and great price. If there are any catastrophes I will update.

I love this tent so much I bought a second one. We enjoyed having both at the beach. I’m not sure what you can expect from a “canopy” that’s meant to be a canopy and stored when not in use. It’s wonderful when your using it for small a purpose and not a patio.

    This is the best

We bought this because we go camping a lot. The weather isn’t always agreeable and we would like to spend time outside. We also use it for over our dogs pen when we go camping. To keep the sun off of them. This is so big. 13 x 13. It really gives you a lot of room to move. I think this is the best one we’ve ever owned. If you’re looking for one of these items this is the brand and the one you want to purchase. It is sturdy and very well-made.https://www.amazon.com/Coleman-Instant-Beach-Canopy-Feet/dp/B0033990N8/ref=cm_cr_srp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8

Has been through every type of weather condition.

This is our second one, both still in use. My son uses them for a summer track and field club. They have been everywhere and survived ever type of weather. The older model we feel has a better very top section. It just is closer to the bottom section and let’s less dew and rain in. We will continue to buy this brand and model.

    Shade, & coverage for many…

This is our 2nd 1 we bought.. I like it because it’s big, & it has a vent top so it won’t blow away like other canopies. I use my propane fire pit under it & it helps keep the heat under to keep all “9” of us warm, in our yard or out camping.. Also use it over our truck tent as a extra cover & it’s big enough to have shelter in front of our tent to sit & stay dry or out of the sun. I say go big or go home 😉

Built like an SUV, durable and sturdy.

Very sturdy and spacious! Standard folding canopy, with the sturdiness you also gain bulk, around 4ft long folded up, even with the wheeled case I wouldn’t expect my wife to try to haul this around by herself. The folding frame folds up without the actual canopy permanently connected. The canopy material looks to be sturdy nylon material colored on one side and silverish on the underside. Was able to figure out how to set it up without reading the instructions. Basically attach the center hat and canopy material with the frame about quarter or halfway open. Remember to also extend the corner arms to hold the corners out.

    High Quality Canopy

I took this camping almost every weekend this past summer and it was awesome! It is bigger than I thought it would be. I have a few canopies that I bought from Target that after a summer were worn out (bent frames and tears in the fabric). The metal frame on this one is VERY sturdy. The fabric is high quality and I think will last a long time. The top is a separate piece, so there is a small space at the top allowing airflow. That is nice because the canopy doesn’t get super hot. This canopy does really well in the rain. I had no pooling at all in the several heavy rain storms this last summer. I don’t like other canopies that allow the rain to pool and stretch out the fabric.I liked it so much I ordered another one for next summer!Like:- Easy to set up- Easy to take down- Fits back in its bag easily after use (without having to fold it ‘just right’)- Holds steady in the wind- Sturdy Frame- Canopy fabric is durable (inside is metallic looking)Dislike:- Pegs for securing in the dirt are kind of flimsy and bend easily (easy enough to buy higher quality pegs)

I converted a 2002 Dodge van into a camper, this canopy reaches from in front of the passengers door to the back end of the van. With the poles being straight up and down, i am able to tuck the canopy up against the van with two feet over the top of the van. guide lines tied to the mirror in the front and the door hinge in the back. This makes for a very comfortable shaded area, and totally free off any rain. Very easy to set up and take down, can b down by one person, much easier with more than one.

    Great shelter

We use this at the firing range. It does a great job of keeping the sun off us. The initial snap up is a little bit of a pain, but not so bad as to have me give it a bad mark. All in all it goes up and down very easily. The winds get pretty high sometimes and I have not had any issues with tears or rips. So far I have been using it for about 1 year we go to the range 1-2 times per month. My only regret is that the 13×13 does not have any side panels available for it. It would be nice to have and they do make them for the smaller units.

    Nicely constructed.

I’ve only used this item once, but already glad I chose it over more conventional items with the same footprint. The fabric provides deep shade, the vent at the top helps relieve lift from the wind and exhaust warm air, heavy stakes provided, guy lines provided at each corner assist in steadying the canopy to the ground, trees or other nearby structures.

Against Coleman’s Recommendations: How I Used My Previous Coleman 13′ Canopy

If Coleman doesn’t like my review, I suppose they can take it down. I gave ’em 5 stars, though!Avid hiker and outdoorsman that I’ve been, I’m pretty much anchored at home now, taking care of two elderly disabled relatives. We have an inner patio — between the garage and the house. Depending on the time of year, the So. California sun hits the side of the house and part of the patio, causing the patio and the house itself to heat up unnecessarily. And because I’m tethered to home pretty much, I enjoy growing tomatoes in the garden part of that inner patio area. I have to use military camouflage netting to limit the sunlight on that garden, but the patio still heats up. In the winter, when it rains, we (or I) want a place to sit on the patio where we won’t get soaked. So I bought the first canopy, identical to the one receiving this review, some time between 2003 and 2005.Coleman tells you not to leave the canopy fully deployed in the sun (or any weather) for more than a few days. Our Coleman pop-up frame has been left standing for at least 16 years. Of COURSE the fabric tent material degrades from the sun. Sunlight will turn any rip-stop tent material into dust over a long-enough period of time. The initial Coleman tent-material lasted maybe three years or so before we had to rip it up and pull it down. We found a $20 polyester 12’x12′ tarp at TarpsUSA, and used it to cover the frame. It is the same buff color, which is the color of our house paint as well. A nice match — both ways. The tarp would last at most 1.5 to 2 years. So I’d order the tarps two at a time, and go through the periodic ritual of replacement. Finally, the center part that joins the frame “rafters” deteriorated and came apart on a shower of little screws and plastic pieces. I was amazed that the 16-year-old frame would still collapse as it was meant to, so we could get it out of the patio and into a trash can for garbage pickup.I’m sure many will want this 13’x13′ canopy for “Saturday in the Park”, the 4th of July, family camping trips, registering voters or putting shade on your garage or yard sale. They will use it as Coleman advises. We could probably build some sort of trellis or structure on the patio. Perhaps we could purchase one of those “Sundowner” motorized shades as advertised on the TV. Construction would require submittal of plans to our condominium association, and those Sundowner units cost between $900 and $1,500.So we boldly continue with our Coleman canopy use as we have for the first one all these 16 years. Here’s a tip I received, however, on the matter of preserving either the original tent material or a $20 poly tarp. Armor All — spray it with Armor All. And you could probably try protecting the original tent material by throwing the $20 poly tarp over it, which I may try today. And one more thing: Coleman had told me many years ago that they don’t make a replacement cover for the frame. Today, I find that an outfit named Garden Winds makes a replacement called the RipLock 350, precisely made to fit the Coleman frame.I suppose I’ll recommend anything for uses of my own as well as the usage recommended for others. But, for the price, I’m happy.UPDATE: When I said the original canopy-cover I had for the previous Coleman lasted 3 years, It was because I was more tolerant then about deterioration in the fabric. With my latest Coleman, I’ve found UV damage and spots that tear easily from the damage after 9 months. I have stockpiled three Garden Winds replacement canopy covers, but I want to see yet how covering the canopy with cheap Chinese desert-camouflage panels will reduce further damage, and whether I can effectively patch holes with pieces of nylon tent material and a tube of Shoe-Goo. I’ve also discovered that the seams leak in the rain, or at least on the south side of the canopy which shows the damage I have caught in the nick of time.I suppose most people wouldn’t want to use their canopy as I do, although one buyer deployed it for an entire summer on his deck and provides pictures. He, like me, wants a replacement kit, or maybe he found the Garden Winds product. It is possible that Garden Winds makes a better more durable canopy cover. I’m hoping, with fabric patches and Shoe-Goo in hand, that it will take another two years from now before I can make that judgment.

    Great Beach Canopy

We took this canopy to the beach for vacation. It held up exceptionally in 15 mph sustained winds. We purchased 16″ sand and snow stakes from amazon as well. I would highly reccomend those if you plan on using on the beach as stakes provided are inadequate at best.

Solid canopy, great price for quality

This canopy is pretty awesome. Many of the canopy’s I’ve found on amazon have been pretty generic but this one really stands out. Quality fabric, sturdy frame and if you have never owned/used a canopy before you’ll be grateful that you got this one, most have those push pegs that keep the leg from contracting and you have you jam your thumb in just to get it to go down, well this one has handles covering those components making put up and take down a breeze.First time putting up it took about 15 mins since I had no idea what I was doing but after that it takes about 3-4 minutes. Take down is much faster.
